Had one a few years ago. They gave me a script for 2 valium to be taken when i got there for the procedure. I took 1 valium when i left the house headed to the doctors office. they were pissed but i’m glad i did. they had me pop the other valium headed into the room. Procedure wasn’t bad at all no pain during. Took it easy with ice etc… but wound up with a sack about the size of a cantaloupe on day 3. I’d say it was a good 8 or 9 days before the feeling of getting kicked in the balls went away. all swelling was gone by day 10.

Schedule it for the beginning of March Madness. You shouldn’t lift anything heavier than a remote for about 4 days. After 1 week back to normal. Doc gave me 2mg of Versed prior, then numbed with local anesthetic. A piece of tape holds things out of the way. I sat up and watched the whole thing. Easy week of sympathy from the misses. Hardest thing was keeping my 4 boys from “accidentally” hitting dad in the nuts!

No doctor, just run nakid on a hot day jumping barb wire fences after a couple 6 packs, yep a do it yer self-vasectomy, on the other side had one 40 years ago, I wanted a big family and the wife agreed but after our first was born a son the doc said no more as it might kill her or the baby or both. No regrets.

Got mine done a few years ago. First side didn’t feel a thing. Felt a whole lot on the second side. They had to numb it again. 2 weeks later I had a swelled up something on one of my nuts and had to get some antibiotics.
sounds like a good time, maybe i will get one.... i'm a big needle fan too, so getting one stuck in my nuts sounds worth the price of admission alone.

reading through the replies, i believe the OP came to the wrong damn place for moral support

It’s worth it in the long run! Everyone I’ve ever heard a horror story from tried to do too much the following day or two after the procedure. Ice those guys and take it easy. As for the procedure the needle is horrible everything after words is not too bad in my experience.

This thread is epic. I’m sitting in the waiting room at the barber shop laughing and flinching like someone kicked me in the balls while reading this.

it gives me the heebie jeebies:oops:

luckily (in many ways) my wife had to take medication to get pregnant and doesn't have menstrual cycles... counting my blessings scrolling through this reading material.

i like "it's not bad" they stab you in the nuts with a needle, slice, cut, then burn... by the time they are done with the right side, the numbing wears off, so you actually feel like your nut's getting ripped out, so they stick you again, finish up, then you sit in a chair for 3 days with frozen veggies on your nuts.... easy peasy... haha

yeah.... sounds like a lot of used car salesmen

It's not bad at all, as stated prior they don't put you under for the procedure. My only recommendation is get it done now so you recovered and ready for the fall season.

Has mine done a long time ago after my ex became pregnant twice when she said she was on the pill. She was mad a hell when I got it done. That all eventually ended. Had a reversal when I married my current love of my life (now married 22 years). Told her I was not getting knifed again so she took the bullet after we had a son together. It’s not bad and usually a minor deal. Just do it on a long weekend from work or something and you will be good.

I have nightmares about going to the dentist. No nightmares about my vasectomy.

It was about 18 years ago. I was awake for the procedure but it was quick and easy. Really don't remember much about it. Sat on cold peas that afternoon, didn't really need them. DEFINITELY feels better with boxer briefs. The boys need support. Mine was done on a Monday. Back to work Tuesday. I waterski'd on the weekend. Probably shoulda waited, the boys ached after I went down on the water, but the procedure was a nothing.
Couple of points to add that others have said. For reference I'm 51
BEST THING I EVER DID. Sex with the X was awesome knowing there were no worries of pregnancy.
NOW, divorced and........see above, just take out X. No worries about an oooops.
That being said, I don't feel like less of a man, and I think the experience is more enjoyable knowing.......no crying baby!! And no Trojan.
ABSOLUTELY bring at least three samples in after the procedure to be sure all the olympic swimmers are gone. WAY too many stories of not testing and a 9 month surprise.

Sure, some people have a worse experience than others, but like I said I dread the dentist. The vasectomy was nothing compared to that. If you are done having kids, it's well worth it to have the procedure.

Just my opinion.

haha... the thread below this one is titled "colonoscopy"

i think we need to bring back the drama lama because WKR's gettin' too real here in the off season

i wonder if there are any Dr's that do value bundles, like a physical, vasectomy, and colonoscopy combos where you can save 12% off of the full retail price?

I think the proper term is epididimus. For whatever reason mine became inflamed and was about the size of a walnut. I’d do it all again too! I didn’t get snipped for the wife, I done it for me.

The valium script is no joke. Two pills later the Dr. could have told me I was getting thrown in a volcano and I would not have cared less. I laid down on the table and started to read the seven sayings of buddha, almost made it though the first saying and Dr. says we're done.

Easy peasy. 20 min of an uncomfortable procedure. I had the “stitchless” procedure. Just take it easy for AT LEAST 21 days. don’t rush back, I did P90x too soon and I was in tremendous pain for a few days.

I shaved so much the doc offered me a job in prep. I don’t remember any pain from the shots, but I remember the smoke. The worst pain was the doc ripping the tape off my member and the hair pulled as a result.

+1 on take it easy as long as the doc suggests. I felt fine and went back to doing (desk) work the same day and regretted it the next day.

No blood in my blanks - that happens after a prostate biopsy.

Make sure you do the follow-up sperm count. A buddy was told his “didn’t take” and he had sperm after the procedure.

Real mountain men ask the doc to use extra strength gorilla tape to plaster the old schwartz out of the way. This thread is hilarious just go do it and listen to what the doc tells ya all will be fine----MAYBE ask Luke.

Alright - horror story time. But first, the basics, just like everyone else, definitely get a specialist no-scalpel guy that does a few thousand a year. I went to a place called weekend vasectomy and they did like 30 minute session all day long on Saturday, in-out done. Less painful than a cavity, and talked to the doc about his OIL moose hunt the whole time. The surgery was flawless and the end results were great.

Now for the crappy part. One of the more common side effects is a sperm granuloma, and it's usually pretty benign. When they cap and cauterize both ends of the vans def because sometimes one of them leaks and your body will wall it off with scar tissue and fluid and it'll go a way in a few weeks - usually no big deal. Day of the surgery, a little discomfort but no big deal, next couple days it went away to nothing. About 4 days later I woke up in excruciating pain. Near as we can work out I had a granuloma, but it adhered to the psoas muscle which is a major core stabilizer, so any movement had a direct path to yank on the testicles, which was horrendous.

Once we figured it out, a heavy dose of ibuprofen and movement to break up the adhesion (pretty awful pain) cleared it up, but for a couple days I was laid up. Still totally worth it, but just like everyone else has said- plan on some recovery time and don't go being stupid.
