The only memorable part for me was when the doc asked it he could put on some music during the procedure, classic rock. Gave the OK so he turns on Pandora and the first song that plays as I’m laying there spread eagle with orange iodine all over my junk about to get snipped is…

Aerosmith’s “Dude looks like a lady”

Not funny, doc

You would think every man on this forum over 40 had it done….
I'll be 44 in a few weeks, have a wife and 2 kids and will never be sterilized. I'm a Catholic and it's viewed as mutilation of the body and a sin, but I'm not judging this is just my belief. I'm surprised that this hasn't been brought up yet. U do U

The only thing that changes after a vasectomy is the color of the baby…..

More seriously, the guys I work with are big into reading the signs. They’re all farmers. I’m not. One of them tells me the signs are wrong for cutting hogs. So I tell the doctor the morning of, making a joke, that the signs are wrong for cutting hogs. Dude never smiled or anything, just said we ain’t cutting hogs here. Yep, I had trouble.

Has mine done a long time ago after my ex became pregnant twice when she said she was on the pill. She was mad a hell when I got it done. That all eventually ended. Had a reversal when I married my current love of my life (now married 22 years). Told her I was not getting knifed again so she took the bullet after we had a son together. It’s not bad and usually a minor deal. Just do it on a long weekend from work or something and you will be good.

I'm about 15 years in and turn 47 next month. In the last couple of years I've starting getting some achiness out of the right side that feels like somebody grazed me. It can last for a couple days and is treatable with a couple iburprofen. No real rhyme or reason to it and not debilitating or anything, just uncomfortable.

I'm about the same timeframe and get the same.

I'm no Doctor but from what I gather they simply disconnect the tubes the sperm travels through but don't functionally disable the body from producing sperm. Where are these sperm now supposed to go? How are you supposed to change the oil and flush the pipes? Maybe y'all have 15 years of built up pressure in there ready to burst. Pops always said if ya don't use it ya lose it and they turn to stone!

Bro, when the doc stuck the needle in my junk the only thing touching the table was my shoulder blades and my heels. The second one was worse. I knew what was coming. My wife gave me grief about not going to work the next day and how much ice i was using. I went turkey hunting a week later and they still swelled up on me even then. I would say my full healing took two months. Would I do it again. Heck yes. I like riding bare back.

I don’t know the specifics, but I’m pretty sure when you bust a nut it just flows out into the scrotum. Your body just absorbs all that. The actual sauce, comes from the prostrate. I was told, to never get yourself worked and in position to have blue balls as there wasn’t really a way to relieve yourself. Thankfully, I’ve not been there.

Mine wasn't bad. I opted not to take whatever it is that they give you to make you relax. There were two things that were somewhat disconcerting. The first was when the doc was tugging on the vas, it felt like he was going to pull my soul out through my sack. There was a slight draft blowing from the surgery site toward me. The smell of my own burnt ball meat when he cauterized me was something I could have lived without. It looked like Mike Tyson used my junk for a heavy bag for a few days following the surgery, but it wasn't painful at all.

I’m not a doc either, and in my case my guess is the clips they used to kink the vas back in the day sometimes rub the main nerve in the sack. I may have it checked out during next physical to be sure. Self exams don’t reveal anything so hoping just a mild side effect. I’ve read that some chronic soreness is common later in life.

It’s not that bad. I had it done at 31. Walked in the office, signed all the forms, prep, procedure and walked out 45 min later. Went home and iced my balls for a few hours while watched hunting shows on the couch. Next day, went hiking and canoeing with family. A little sore for a a couple days, but nothing that was painful. First ejaculation will have some blood and be a little uncomfortable, after that it’s back to normal.

The biggest thing is to make sure that you take pregnancy precautions post vasectomy for at least 2-3 months and until you get the all clear from the doctor. When you hear people say “my vasectomy failed” it usually means they didn’t follow the rules. Sperm can survive up to 60-70 days in the tubes. So, if you aren’t wearing a condom or using other methods of birth control in the first couple months, you have a high likelihood of getting your partner pregnant. They (doctor) will check you sperm count roughly 2-3 months after the procedure to make sure there are none left. Do not miss this appt. You need to know that you are truly firing blanks.

It’s been 6 years since I had mine. No issues whatsoever.

A vasectomy in the Catholic Church would be the least of my worries, but you do you….
