Hey Guys,

I am in the mood for tinkering so I bought some VAP V1 350s. I have read that the VAP inserts are horrible. So, what options are you guys using wit the VAP? I am thinking about the "Firenock outsert" or the "Lock and Load" inserts. Thoughts on what you guys like?

Thanks

I am also shooting the VAP V1 350s and have had numerous aluminum outsert bend and switched to shooting the VAP's with the 92 gr. SS outsert and haven't had trouble yet. I do not have any knowledge on the outserts your looking at.

I tried VAP's with the firenock outserts. If you go that direction make sure to follow firenocks instructions and order one size below what is listed to fit your arrow shaft and sand the shaft lightly until the insert just fits. When I tried them I did not do this and had trouble getting them to spin true. I have had several friends bend both the old and new generation stock inserts but no one has bent a SS insert yet they are just heavy as can be.

I switched to the firenock outsert last year with VAP's four fletched with silent knights and tipped with 100grn Steel force Phatheads. The penetration was phenomenal. Picked up about 12 more inches of penetration on my block target blew threw elk with the two shots I took. Best part was no bent insert. Pretty solid setup.

Thanks Guys.....it sounds like the forelock is the only way to go if I don't want a 92gr insert like the SS version.

Has anyone tried the 'Lock and Load' inserts?

Interested in this as well, I have heard great things about firenock, and have spoken with Dorge about them. Guy knows his stuff. But I definitely like the idea behind the lock and load inserts

Just had a buddy try the firenock on his vap's and could not get any consistent spin. He pulled them all. He is now going to try the black eagle outsert on his vap's.
Just my $.02 on the topic

mtbshark any idea if he ordered the size down from what firenock lists for his arrows on their chart? If he didn't size them down one step that is exactly what I was talking about earlier.

@ MTBshark : as info...the black eagle outserts are Firenocks :-)

I just bought the Firenock outsert and the "lock n load" I picked the LNL locally and man do they fit the VAP nice!! I am impressed....I still need to square the arrows and go from there.....We shall see........

Hey Mr. Martin Black Eagle now makes their own outserts and inserts for their arrows.

Doverpack12 i dont know what size he ordered up but he did say that he had to sand a little to get to fit.

ive tried both, the firenock's i was not impressed with because i could not get them to spin true or fit to my liking which im sure were hand in hand on the issues i was having. the LNL's were far better in all aspects, easy to install, can move to line up fletchings and they always seemed to spin true. Right now I am shooting deep six inserts in my VAP's but will more than likely go back to LNL's for the FOC.

I just checked out the LNL website. I like the concept. How many have experience with them? Looks like they are aluminum so would bend as easy as the vap penetrator inserts.
