Vanes for Evolution Outdoors heads

I’m probably overkill with AAE max stealths but they steer everything and I’m not good enough to see incremental benefits of switching.

See, I didn't even make it two weeks after I posted this. I switched to the AAE Hybrids in a three fletch b/c I wanted to make my vanes brighter, and then I said well let's add a wrap, and then I was like, might as well try a new vane.

Used AAE Airrazr Hunters with mine. They flew great with the Hyde’s but they are super loud. Giving DCA mini sabers a go.

Just a heads up on the DCA mini's. I really like them, just had to move them forward 2 additional marks on my bitz for them to clear my chin with my anchor.

Quiet vane, got QAD's flying well at 285fps / Black Widow 4 blades at 303fps, straight edge on back of vane helped track it in flight a bit better than a standard parabolic vane.

Being the hopeless OCD that I am (coupled with adhd, I'm a mess) I could just not get over how the Jekyll has such a small amount of steel to support that main blade. So I went with some Iron Will fixed. Will carry a wide solid, two standards (both in single bevel) and two of the Hydes. Spent some time figuring out component weights to get every arrow the exact same as the heads have different weights as I went with the solid wide. Got exactly the same weight up front as well as full arrow.

I was getting pretty good flight on the Mini sabre, but was hit or miss on solid adhesion. I cleaned all of my shafts with 92 percent alcohol and primed each vane. The vast majority stuck just fine but occasionally I would have one just come off or halfway during flight.

Went through my bucket of vanes (I really need to chill) and found some packs of the Iron Will vanes and decided to build a few arrows. Zero prep other than cleaning the shaft, and these things are on for good. And my groups instantly tightened up dramatically. And I'm kind of surprised how durable they are. I've hit arrows a couple times and ripped a vane off, but they have been able to be glued right back on. They seem to me as quiet as the sabre.

They are a little heavier. Advertised as 9 grains but all of them I have weighed came in either 8.4 or 8.5. Very consistent weight tolerance.

Hopefully spring will hurry so I can stop tinkering and just spend hours outside. Should save me some money.
