Little bit late to the party, but I’ll chime in. I’ve got a 2020 CanAm Defender HD8 Max and have been really happy with it. I added a bumper with a winch and had a buddy build an aluminum rack for the bed.
It will do 60mph down fire roads all day without beating you up and save wear/tear on your truck. It’s big, but still smaller than a truck and great for trails. I spend most of my time hunting in the Texas Panhandle, Trans-Pecos, and Central Texas. On those ranches, it’s ideal.
Ive also had it in CO, NM, and AZ. No issues anywhere but keep trail width restrictions in mind.
I hunt waterfowl quite a bit as well. Marshes are easily passable provided you don’t get deeper than the floorboards. If the bottom is too slick, you’ll get stuck regardless of what model, tires, or whatever else.
The biggest advantage is saving wear and tear for me. Most of the SxS are mountain goats and great for those washed out trails and roads. Throw a winch and storage organizers in the bed and you won’t ever regret it.
Last- it’s nice to be able to pull a trailer. I’ve pulled the CanAm several places with the truck, unloaded and unhooked from the truck, then hooked that 14’ utility trailer to the UTV and hauled everything from firewood to blinds, dozens of goose decoys, atv’s, deer, pigs, corn, and anything else you can imagine. That’s convenient.
