using tape on muzzlebrakes

never have shot a muzzlebrake with tape on to keep debry out. i always put tape on guns with no brake with no issues from doing so. first rifle with a brake. the ovious is to just pull the trigger and see what happens be it noise and accuracy etc.... was curious though what others have experienced and have for other ideas if tapes a bad one. i think i have seen sam uses small black balloons. brake is a CA slayer so a baffle design if that matters. thanks.

Small party balloons taped on is what I use if I'm not using a scope guard/muzzle cover.

thanks.... i think ill just try both, balloon and tape. i think either will change the natural state of the brakes effect though be it minimal. an obstruction of sort in the bore would be worse.

I like to cut the pinky finger off a small rubber glove and slip it over the barrel. Usually holds on with no tape needed

I have shot them off of bare barrels, AR flash hiders, shotgun cokes and a break or two. No issues. Might not fit on a really big break. I couldn't say they might not impact precision or accuracy for sure but I think if your target was far enough away to have that impact matter you'd have the time to pull the cover off the gun.

I used to use Birchwood Casey Barrel Cots, but found them too thin. I was replacing them several times during a hunt especially if going through thick brush. I now use three pieces of electrical tape, one vertical one horizontal, then wrap one piece around the ends of the other two pieces about three inches from the end of the barrel. Stays on (until I shoot), and has never come off unless I remove it.
None of the things suggested in previous replies will affect the bullet point of impact.

tape or cots or ??, doesn't matter as they don't affect accuracy, velocity or pressure whatsoever - the gas blows it off before the bullet ever gets near the muzzle so stop worrying

not really worrying.... curious. as i stated ill find out for myself. figured i would add others experience to what i find. in the end ill shoot both through a chrono cuz it matters. at long d variations in velocity makes a miss. thanks for the reply.

I always was concerned about pressure as I "might" be shooting loads that were just a little bit on the stout side
