Using a centerfire can on a rimfire?

Don't do it unless you really want to be cleaning your silencer. Rimfire ammo is pretty dirty that's why most rimfire silencers come apart.

yes, i have well over a thousand of rounds of rimfire ammo through my 30 caliber can. Works amazing but as mentioned above they are dirty but i have no problem cleaning my can once or twice a year.

I did it for a couple shots with my Griffin Recce 5. It worked. Doubt I'd make a habit of it though.

Yes.

After a couple hundred rounds of rimfire, the carbonized powder fragments and other gunk fall back out of my can into my bolt, chamber, and magazine well.

No I haven't done it but I've seen it done. I have enough rimfire silencers that I have no reason to do it. Rimfire silencers are super easy to pull apart and soak in car every 500 or so rounds.

As others have mentioned, you'll get carbon, unburnt powder and lead particles blown back into the barrel, action, and even the magazine well. If your .30 cal suppressor isn't serviceable I'd avoid shooting rimfire through it. Mine can be fully disassembled for cleaning so it's no problem for me aside for the extra time it takes to clean .

For tens of thousands of rounds. Shoot a few centerfire rounds through the can after using it on a .22LR, and it’ll blow the lead and carbon out.

I agree. I tried it with either a EVO or nomad and thought right away my masks were quieter than the centerfire can. I’ve had no reason to do it. I didn’t have a reason when I did I was just curious.

I actually saw this happen to a squad mate at a match. While walking between stages his can let loose a bunch of carbon and he couldn’t even chamber a round on the next stage. He had been shooting rimfire in the can previously then mid match had the issue.

I tried shooting my rimfire cans for NRL22 but I ended up with way too much gunk in the action when moving stages. I love them but they’re so filthy.

There's a couple of good you tube's out there. Of course. One guy is using a Banish on his 22, did not seem to suppress the round much compared to a designated 22lr can. ???????

Works fine, just plan on cleaning it with high round counts.

The “dip”, Simple Green and an ultrasonic cleaner, CAT suppressor cleaner, or Breakthrough suppressor cleaner all work well for cleaning sealed cans.

I do it fairly often because I do not want to buy a rimfire can. I just take it to the range and shoot regular rounds through the can to clean it out. Seems to work just fine but I’m not shooting a bunch of rimfire typically just shooting pests around the house.
