Are there any worthwhile upgrades for these? I realize they are cheap guns but I’m wondering if there are any good trigger or mag release upgrades available.

Also, is there any way to stiffen up the plastic stock?

I recently picked up this Ruger American rimfire “mini ranch” rifle for 200 dollars brand new, I put my banish 22 on it and used some old warne rings I had to mount a vortex crossfire 2-7 rimfire scope. To my surprise it shot both the cci sub sonic and cci quiet ammo into 1” groups at 50 yards which is more than enough to shoot grouse and ptarmigan. The gun has a 16”
Threaded Barrel, came with a rail and the metal is ceracoated bronze.

After shooting my 2” steel plate with the rifle for a few hundred rounds, I really like it but the stock is very flexible in the foregrip area and the mag release is just a plastic thing that sticks down ~1/2” from the bottom of the stock.

I wouldn’t mind spending a bit to upgrade a little since all I have is to it is 200 dollars and spare parts I had laying around.

Thanks.

dumping the stupid bladed trigger for a Jard or Timney is a big improvement.....

I think I will get the tinney trigger for it. lol those stupid 15 round magazines, holds 5 rounds more than the flush for 10rd but is 4x as long.

I just went with the precision cause I wanted a threaded barrel and the mlok forend & adj cheek piece. 1/2" at 50 is common. Longest kill so far is a pigeon at 184View attachment 881315
Those are cool, the American I got came with a threaded barrel and a rail mounted to it from the factory. It worked out great, I had the banish 22, scope and rings just stashed away not being used.

I was looking at the piece of wood I was shooting and I had some groups that had 5 rounds touching so it shoots good.

When I had my RAR 17 HMR, it would shoot 18 rounds easily into 1.5” at 100 yards with Hornady 17 gr V-Max. It was the plain synthetic stock version.

Most importantly, where the heck did you find it for $200? I have a couple .22's but I have permanently modified the stocks to fit my kids. I'm on the lookout for a good .22 bolt at a reasonable price. I'd like a T1x for continuity but not sure i want to spend that on a rimfire I'll use occasionally..

I went to a garage sale some people were having before moving out of town, they had it new in the box, still wrapped in plastic.

I had the t1x awhile ago but sold it to buy my tacsol. I liked the t1x but I wanted a semi auto and something that used the Ruger magazines. The tacsol is basically a fully upgraded 10/22.

I was happy to get another bolt action for shooting the cci quiet ammo on my property, the tacsol is awesome but it dosent cycle the super quiet stuff so it’s not quite as quiet in my yard.

You can remove that stupid blade by just pushing the little pin out and remove it with the little spring. My stock trigger then adjusted to a crisp 2.5 lbs and is good enough that I didn't feel the need to replace it. I can't remember if I clipped the spring.

That's why I went rprf, I have a cz452fs, 2 10/22's, bought my son a win wildcat, its threaded. I put my can on it and it just wasn't quiet enough. I had a rem five bolt, was thinking of threading that, then reality kicked in and I sold the five, kicked in a couple bucks and bought the ruger.

I wanted a threaded 22, with mlok / arca forend, adj comb. Ended up with the ruger precision, and very happy with it. Shoots 1 hole at 50, took a pigeon at 184 with it.
