Well, how's she do with the brake?
Half assed test. Its been a minute so im fuzzy
620 yards. Off the top of my truck camper shell. Standing on the tailgate. Front and rear bags.
Tried it on my 10.5# 25 prc (can, scope, bipod), and my 6.5 creed NRL heavy gun. Probably sitting at 15#. Compared against the hellfire brake and I think i shot some thru the tbac 9.
I put the srs shims below the hellfire adapter on the 25 prc. The 6.5 was as is, roughly a 30 degree cant, not aligned right.
25 prc:
Hellfire brake. TBI maker. Its not fun. Its still pretty hard to spot yourself even at 620. Maybe the peak 44 just isn't right for me, but she's jumpy. But this was the least amount of movement.
Reaper+brake. Wasn't awful on noise with no ears (pretty sure i shot one without). I think it gave a little more control then the tbac. I did notice a zero shift compared to the tbac. My load has been dead nutz since July ish. But it seemed to be high and left.
6.5 creed:
Hellfire wins again. Very controllable. Conditions were really good for trace. I was able to watch trace thru the scope on several shots. (Athlon cronus btr...got that minox coming to help more with that!)
Reaper w/brake. Pretty good. Definitely jumpier then the brake. But a smidge calmer then the tbac. Had to adjust dope .5 mils less then hellfire. Wondering if the brake offset 30ish degree is messing with harmonics. (Also not the fairest of tests because of that)
Long story short. Stereotypes were confirmed. Brake, fast quick sharp impulse that lets you get back on quick. Tbac, slow long push makes it harder to watch impacts. Reaper w/brake was right in between.
I used roksett on the brake and titanium hellfire adapter, just like 3 drops. The adapter came loose instantly. And its awkward dealing with left and right handed threads on the same connection. Soooo, need to add more. Brake seemed to hold.
The tbac wins in quietness. But its obsoleted by the reaped + brake. The 25 prc will be wearing the reaper, need to re zero.
For gaming the hellfire gets the nod. If i notice concussion headaches or hearing concerns I'll swap to the reaper. Especially for local PRS with no prizes and obstacles that direct noise to the shooter.
