Upland bird non-profits and magazines

Hello friends, I am currently a member of BHA and Quail Forever.

Aside from those, what are your favorite non-profits you are members of? Happy to add a few more memberships.

Also, what are your favorite upland hunting magazines? I rather pay more for coffee table quality with less adds that will be worth collecting.

Project Upland is excellent. I'm a Ruffed Grouse Society member, and their magazine is good as well.

I don’t know about magazines, but Pheasants Forever/Quail Forever probably does more to support bird habitat and hunting opportunities for the public than all the rest of the game bird non-profits together. They are one of the few national game bird organizations that works on multiple species. They have also been working for years cooperatively with NRCS to promote habitat management for game birds across the US.

I’m a member of Quail Forever, Chukar Chasers and North America Grouse Partnership. Some good advice I’ve heard is “if you hunt it you should join the club or organization that supports it”. I’ve joined and donated to a few extra organizations lately too.

Might look into NAVHDA too, they support some of the same organizations and you can train your dog with them. The monthly magazines are short, but it’s still a magazine about dogs and bird hunting.

I’ve always subscribed to Pointing Dog Journal. Gun Dog is good too.
