Unpopular opinions

1: every cartridge invented after 1894 was unnecessary. Cartridge design peaked with the 6.5x55

2: hunters get way too worked up about predators. Shooting a coyote during deer season every 5 years isn’t “saving fawns”, and wolves aren’t the bogeyman some people claim.

A person needs to wear scent killer of some sort to be an effective bow hunter. I was fooled into believing this was necessary when I first started backpack hunting for elk. You’re gonna stink no matter what and the extra weight is stupid.

Unpopular opinion #3: bait fishing sucks. It’s an excuse for lazy people to go out and drink beer somewhere other than sitting in their lazy boy.
What if I bait fish and I don't even drink? Extra lazy I suppose lol. Napping in the sand waiting for a pole to start jumping sounds pretty great right about now 😁
Game meat= pronghorn > deer > elk
I think you had a typo here. "Is less than" sign goes <

I love eating all wild game, but I would completely reverse that order of preference. (Except field fed whitetail. That is better than elk and mulies)

You have to shoot the coon out to the dog all the time or you ruin the dog. The guy I started out hunting with told me.

I didn’t have a lot of properties to hunt and some limited state land. Petted her up gave her a hot dog treat and on to the next track.

I thought of some more of my unpopular opinions!

1: Swarovski optics are over price by about 200% of their actual performance value. Swaro quality peaked with the SLC line, which is now sold under the Kahles line overseas for a fraction of what we were paying here in the US. Swarovski is just taking advantage of charging people for the status symbol of the flying pigeon logo they have. Their optics are NOT the top of the pile, no matter how hard everyone tries to justify it.

2: Kennetrek boots are hot garbage, may as well super glue a 2x4 to the bottom of a pair of moon boots and hunt in those. Comparable levels of comfort under foot and support up the ankle.

3: bow hunting is nothing but a status symbol. Some of the least ethical and courteous hunters I’ve ever met/seen have been archery hunters. Can’t tell you how many guys I sold a bow to THE NIGHT BEFORE ARCHERY OPENER who went out the next day to hunt. I would argue that lots of bow hunters are less ethical than rifle hunters.

4: Toyota pickups, new or used are ALL extremely overpriced. And that’s coming from a guy who loves Toyota stuff.

5: if you have to “size up” or “size down” in a pair of boots to make them “fit,” they don’t fit. Buy a different boot. If you normally wear a 10 but have to buy an 11 or 11.5 to be comfortable then you’re buying the wrong boot.

Oh and liner socks are just a gimmick meant to help people who bought the wrong boot to begin with.
