Same,I hate cerakote on an action. For strictly nitride, I think LSWild can help ya.
And I can relate! Will never buy another carbon steel action without intentions to nitride!

I would spray paint one first.

Yes the slow spiral. It’s definitely slower than what they had on hand and pictured on the website. But still looks pretty coolThat looks great! Is that the “slow spiral”?

Yes. Shot the last 4 stages of a match in the rain. Didn’t have adequate supplies to dry/clean after the match. It took a 3.5 hr uncased car ride after, and that’s what it looked like at home.Is that the blued finish? I thought it would prevent some rusting, that's pretty bad
Any reason you couldn’t just DLC an action? If you need your cro moly action nitrided and don't want to put together an H&M worthy batch, reach out to @hereinaz (assuming UM is no longer offering this service).
If you want your stainless action or your bolt nitrided, that's on you. Most of you know our shop's position on that practice.

With whatever LRI put on there. I wouldn’t ever coat an action and bolt again but would just an action. That the elite?
I'd DLC a stainless action but then there's the question of what to do with the bolt. You could also DLC it and that would be alright. Though I'd probably opt for a different PVD process (the family of coating application methods to which DLC belongs) just to get the anti-binding properties of dissimilar surfaces.Any reason you couldn’t just DLC an action?
All my bolts are already the factory black coated with who knows what. I have one stainless action I need to coat at the end of the Prs season here (September)
Do you know the coating on a factory CTR/tac tikka bolt? All I need is my stainless action coated, bolts are all factory coated.I'd DLC a stainless action but then there's the question of what to do with the bolt. If you can get someone to strip and maybe dlc your bolt your probably going to be pretty close to factory feel even with the action having cerakote on it.Cerakote from LRI definitely made my Tikkas not run as smooth as plain stainless. I would not do it again. They work fine, and after lots of use have smoothed out some.
I new better from reading, but had to FAFO for myself.
Is nitriding stainless actions no bueno? Asking for a friendIf you need your cro moly action nitrided and don't want to put together an H&M worthy batch, reach out to @hereinaz (assuming UM is no longer offering this service).

I'm getting ready to send a batch of barrels, actions, and cylinders to H&M for nitriding. What flavor of PVD do you like for the bolts?I'd probably opt for a different PVD process (the family of coating application methods to which DLC belongs) just to get the anti-binding properties of dissimilar surfaces.
Nice. I do PVD DLC on the bolts via a shop on the east coast, but I believe @hereinaz has a supplier in Arizona which does a different PVD process.I'm getting ready to send a batch of barrels, actions, and cylinders to H&M for nitriding. What flavor of PVD do you like for the bolts?
Thank you.
