Unknown ring install issue

First off, I emailed Unknown, but it's the weekend so I figured I'd see if anyone here has had this issue.

Installing the UM rings on a tikka and the threaded pin will not let the ring sit flush against the receiver. There's a little wobble which isn't present with the non-threaded pin.

Is this normal? Should the pin screw in more?

Don’t know if that pin is longer than it’s supposed to be but the pins need to be threaded all the way in. Did you remove all the plastic from the plugs when you removed them? Bolt should be removed when installing and checked for interference before mounting ring bases.

Pull the pin out and drop it into the base of the ring to make sure it’s machined deep enough.

Worst case I’d dremel a little off the top of the pin(s).

Double-check to make sure there's nothing in the hole, like a bit of thread protector that may have come from the factory, shipping styrofoam/cardboard fragments, etc.

That ^^, and, I had to grab the pins with pliers to turn them all the way in. That looks like it needs screwed in a bit more.

It does need turned in more. I'm just afraid to overtighten and break it off. I'll try to tighten it more. Anyone know the thread pitch?

Several of the tikkas that we use for test and development had very tight threads on the top of the receiver. I had to chase them with a 6-48 tap. That could possibly prevent that pin from screwing all the way down.

Threads are clean. Screws in easily by hand until it hits the stop and then I can't get it to go any further (even with pliers) to keep it from protruding slightly. Seems to me the easy solution would be to make the pin on the screw in studs and slots in the rings a bit wider.

I'll wait to hear back from them.

Not sure, but certain there should not be wobble.

I just did this last week. There was one point where it got hung up and I backed it out and went back down again (hand tightening). It went all the way with a little effort. I can't remember exactly what it looked like, so I couldn't tell you if it was flush or not. But the top ring is not a thread so I don't think it's supposed go too far into the receiver.
