I dont think people are referring to actual can failures with Airlock but rather when the high backpressure starts to impact how smoothly fired cases extract?
Extraction with gas guns not cycling smoothly or you mean extraction issues on bolt guns?

So you’re saying you’ve witnessed or heard first hand of verifiable Airlock failures? This is news to me.

I have witnessed - on my own rifles and on a different rifle at the S2H course - the sticky bolt lift when shooting high volumes with an Airlock ZG 6.5 on a bolt action rifle.

In my case, I was shooting high volumes of factory 6.5 Creed in my Sauer 100 to find a working load. At one session I had nine different loads and at another I had six. So, multiple 10-shot groups in one session. When I first encountered the issue, I thought it was due to some of those factory loads being “hot.” But I had it happen again and again as I did load development during hand loading as well. Since I switched suppressors, I haven’t had the issue.

At S2H, I saw a similar thing happen during the hunting rifle portion. In that case, switching to a different suppressor made the issue go away and switching back to it made it come back.

I have not yet seen the issue with the Airlock Nano, which remains one of my favorite suppressors on my new 20” Tikka .223. But I also haven’t used the Nano for extended practice sessions because it develops mirage so fast as to be impractical in that scenario.

I personally have a hard time seeing how my issues with an Airlock ZG 6.5 could possibly affect my whitetail hunting experience on my farm, but I am also not spending tens of thousands of dollars to go on “once in a lifetime” hunts. I don’t think it is totally unreasonable for someone to choose a different suppressor based on the reports. We are blessed with a huge number of options, including, for a lucky few, the OG22.

Curious if this type of design would be a Bigger problem when running the +Peak design cartridges. Just something more to consider when
Selecting a new suppressor.

What were the suppressors that didn't cause issues?

They’re called Air Lock because they sound like dead air and are light which is excellent, but the second half of the name stands for locking guns up that work as expected with other suppressors. Literally twist the airlock off and put say a Polonium K on or US Reaper or Deadair nomad on in its place and the issue is resolved.

This isn’t inherent to Air Lock and Ive had this happen with a pre production (production intent) OG30 (as one example), but the air lock cans I’ve used and shot personally with have had a 100% lock rate in field days.

For lower volume shooters and hunters who don’t require maximum durability and reliability, the lock air could be good choice.

So every single time you've used an airlock can for practice, the bolt has locked up? After how many rounds in a string? Does the issue resolve itself after the gun cools? Are you shooting hand loads?

I'll play devils advocate... taking a second for my barrel and can to cool off while training. It's like 75 and no issues with the Nano this morning. But the wind is at my back. Never experienced the hard bolt lift from the wind blowing in the can. But it obviously can happen.

Polonium, reaper, and nomad are all louder and heavier. Again, tradeoffs. Airlock zg cans are made to be lightweight and quiet, which they are. They were not designed to be heavy use cans.

Can you explain the tape? I see it on lots of barrels now. Also, sick color choice on that barrel!

PBB actually just called me with a "Are you sure?" :D

My tikka sbr was recently approved. I was thinking 22 arc, what made you pick 22cd?
I don't want to derail this thread further. If you guys started a "Tikka SBR" thread i'd be interested in what you learned in the process, approval forms and wait times, barrel length determination, what stock/chassis you're using, suppressor, what lead you to choose the cartridge, etc.

I really like the idea of a 6ARC, but @Lawnboi keeps showing us how much of an "easy button" the 6dasher is.

14" dasher with og6s in a rokstok lite sounds sweet. (not sure how short you can go in a rokstok)
