Unit 54 Colorado cell phone reception?

I was wondering if there is much for cell reception in Unit 54 in Colorado. I drew an archery deer tag and will be backpacking in solo. My wife wants me to keep in some kind of contact with her and have emergencies covered. I am debating on renting a sat. phone or buying a Delorme Inreach to take along. Any info is appreciated.

I have never had cell service in unit 54. U mite get sum if U are on the top of a Mountain. I had service at the beginning of county rd 721. Good luck in 54..

Ranger you may want to check out renting a Sat Phone or go to REI and get one of those Texting things you can hook to your phone. Spot is another one too. Lots of things you can do to keep in touch. Good luck.

I see spot is offering a sat phone now. U mite check in to that. May be Teton will chime in. He has a lot of years in 54. I don't no were U are going in at?

I had service (Verizon) clear at the top of 723 and on top of jeep hill on 721 last year. Teeton was 6 miles from 721 and I am pretty sure he took his phone and extra batteries with him last year. Send me a pm and I'll help u if I can.
