Unit 54 burns

I know this is old news but I didn’t see another post on this. The way I read it, half of GMU54 is closed until 12/31/23 due to the Lowline fire. I reckon it could be revised but probably not by September.

Plan B would be hunting with your billionaire friends on that creek bottom trophy ranch because the unit isn’t that big.

My guess is they will open up a lot of that country as soon as it's contained. I wouldn't get to worried about it yet.

Yea definitely don’t see how it could hold all the way to west elk creek but definitely a set back for Fred and Kendall

Nowhere near half the unit…about 2000 acres burning and immediate surrounding area closed. The unit is 585,000 acres.

I talked with the forest service about this. Correct, i think she said its only about 1,800 acres. She said as of rn on paper it is to be opened back up in December but she was pretty dang confident it will all be open for hunting season. Sounds like the always over shoot the opening date. She also said the fire has been well contained and has not been growing.

I was scouting other parts of the unit then and did not see any burns in the distance or smoke that effected any morning glassing.
