Well in that case, and in the spirit the spirit of free information, drop us some pins Buzz.

Wyoming general.

Not looking for a trophy, just a fair representative of the species. Don’t even just drop the unit, give all the new boys some trailheads, camp sites, wallows, meadows, bedding areas. Heck, you could even help them pack meat.

Not a problem...google Wyoming and Game and Fish...right at your finger tips, literally.

I've been known to help a few people with pretty specific information, including people that ask for help on various boards....and also help them pack the elk they kill...

When should I start posting the photos?

Oh, and unfortunately for you...you just removed yourself from the list of folks I'd be inclined to help...

Right...the funny thing is, my Grandfather moved from Ronan Montana to Missoula Montana in 1922 at the age of six. Hwy 93 wasn't paved.

I never saw him cuss out the Montana Department of Transportation or the various automobile manufactures that removed the barrier for people to make that move in 2000 (the year of his passing) in less than an hour, that took he and my great grandfather and grandmother a couple days to do.

I guess we should tear up the pavement on HWY 93?
You obviously missed the "I dont fault either side for the stance they took." I see both sides. 90/10 is a barrier to entry it just happens to be your flavor. I appreciate what you contribute and agree with a lot of your views.

Your not the only guy that had family kicking around Roanan in the 20s. Our families undoubtably knew each other. I'm pretty darn sure there are a couple aspects of the flathead valley he wasn't thrilled about when he looked at 1920 and 2000 and what happened to Flathead lake.

If you want to get in a pissing match over the internet because someone can see both sides of an agrument, you are going to have to find someone else to do it with.

The problem is, the side doing the complaining may as well be asking for hwy 93 to be turned back to dirt, or for Ford to start building model T's again...its not happening.

You are right about one thing, its not worth even really having a discussion about.

The genie isn't going back in the bottle, and that's a fact.

You are right it is not going back in the bottle. And I dont have a problem helping guys. I ran I to two guys two years in a row busting ass in hard unit to hunt for late cows. This year we exchanged numbers and discussed a place they might switch to and have better luck. They didnt ask for it, I wanted some good guys to have some luck. It also only takes one party in there for it to be done for the season or at least a weeks. They invited me out to hunt in KY sometime, something I didnt ask for in return. This exchange wasn't about getting elk or dollars, it was about people genuinely respecting and wanting to see the other party do well. It cant be heritage on one hand and for sale in the other the two just dont play well together. I hope that came off as a civil discussion and not a rant.

The point I was making, is everyone has a line in the sand where the free handouts stop. Just because you draw the line somewhere different doesn’t make you inherently better or them inherently worse. On the other hand, making that assumption about folks because they won’t give someone information that’s readily available via any search engine, well…

I agree with you...I have no problem helping others as well, when I think its a sincere effort put in by the guys I'm helping.

Plus, some of the advice I see given is so far out in left field, its laughable. It seems the more specific the information, the more ridiculous it is.

All I can say is that I've never read on a hunting board, watched a video, or listened to an influencer that had led me to a particular area.

What HAS led me to some of the best information is the network of people I know that are good hunters, in AZ, MT, CO, NM, NV, WY, etc. that I've kept in contact with for a long time. If I want the kind of intel that is actually valuable, I straight up make a few phone calls. I receive those same phone calls and return the help when I can.

You won't be finding that kind of help on any board, on any SM, any podcast or any video...

My point is, its stupid to blame ONE of a few dozen sources that put out a ton of information about every single hunting unit, in every single state.

There reaches a point of saturation, where all the available information becomes just more noise.

I mean, how hard is it to look at draw odds and where people are spending max points to figure out what hunters "believe" are the best tags in every State? Not real tough.

If hunting fool, epic, 34 websites, gohunt, onx, the particular GF agency, and 67 youtube video's all point out the obvious, that unit 9 early rifle elk rut tags in AZ are a good hunt...why pick on epic for "blowing up" unit 9? Or why 1 of the 67 videos going on and on about how great unit 9 is? The other 66 video's are fine?

It seems like there's an awful lot of selective outrage around here lately.

You may not have went to a area/unit because of the interent because you have a pre mainstream hunting knowledge base of how and where to go.

I'm headed to LA for a weeding in a few months. The two things I love is new places and the outdoors. I wanted to look into some red fish fishing. The folks I know in Louisiana have a lot on there plates. So where to I turn the interent. Fumble through fishing regs, seasons, charters, and general interent searches. I have no idea what I'm doing. I would be that guy that bites on the left field BS advice because I dont know any better. Pretrt much like the decent human being sitting in Lousiana tonight thinking heading west. And between here and LA there are going to be guys that see a chance to make a buck. I really can appreciate everyone's stance. When I need to fix my dishwasher I turn on youtube, much to the dismay of the plumber that is hoping for a little more in his pay check this week.

I believe the outrage is coming from the incessant need of those brands and their paid faces to keep coming up with content. It’s already there. They’ve done it all already. But they continue to redo it to get more clicks, get more subscriptions and sell more product. All of it’s to our own detriment and it’s sold under the guise of increasing hunter advocates. It’s about paychecks.

Couple all that with horrible point creep for general tags and selling out in record times for OTC. Then someone comes here and asks a question that’s been covered hundreds of ways, people are just tired of it.

Doing you no good to complain about it...and you aren't required to help anyone that asks a question of you.

Just ignore it and move on.

BTW, point creep is inherent to any preference/bonus system...influencers, information age or not.

Been going on as long as I've been applying, which is going on 41 years for me. Get over it, I did a long time ago.

I remember when drawing odds for the breaks in Montana for sheep was less than 1-30, Lower Rock Creek 1-20...

Cry me a river about point creep and declining odds....

Addiction is inherent of all societies. Big pharma pushing pills and lying about their motives definitely didn’t have anything to do with exacerbating the problem, did it?

The information roadblock has been eliminated for Western hunting opportunity, unfortunately now, just COST is the final roadblock.

Maybe there will be a Youtube video how to PAY for hunts soon.
Probably already out there.
