So I have a lost park currently and really like it. Super durable, warm, and pretty weather resistant
Only thing is it’s not very packable doesn’t compress very small and somewhat heavy. I am pretty much strictly a backpack hunter so keeping weight down is pretty important but I also understand that staying put sitting in the cold glassing on a ridge is sometimes how you find the most game so I put warmth almost as important as lightweight.

So you fellers that have had both how do you feel like the FL compared to the lost park in terms of warmth to weight?
Which one would you go for?

They are very comparable in weight, within a couple oz if I remember right?

The Lost Parka is warmer but also more bulky.. The removable hood and kangaroo pockets are a big plus.

The FL is not quite as warm, but still very warm. It's feels lighter when your wearing it, compresses down way better, and is less bulky..

I wore an FL for 2 years, bought the Lost Parka, then went back to the FL.. The main deal killer for me with the Lost Parka is that it's just too bulky for my taste.. The FL is the best all-around jacket I've ever owned.. I wear it to work everyday in the winter

Maybe look at the new First Lite Chamberlain? Supposed to be an oven, and I believe it packs down decently.

Have you tried using a compression sack to pack it in? This is a complaint I have too about the jacket, and I read that suggestion on the Kifaru site so I’m going to try it this season.

Yeah the LPP is definitely bulky, but worth it. I just toss it in the pack and don’t worry about compressing it.

This is what I do as well. It is the warmest puffy I have owned. I have not tried the Kuiu Superdown Pro, which might be the only thing comparable for warmth wise.

Ryan Avery said the new FL puffy is warmer than his Kifaru LPP on a video I watched. I don't know about compressibility or any of that.

Personally I'll pack the LPP on later or colder hunts. I've heard that a person tends to pack their fears on their back, and I just feel more comfortable knowing that it's there if I don't make it back to camp some night for some reason. That sucker is warm, wind resistant, and I have not had it feel damp in snow or rain. I wind up throwing it on a lot on the ranch to go do something quick in the winter when I don't want to put on all my layers. I've got to where I trust it even with just a cotton shirt underneath.

For earlier season I like the Kuiu Kenai puffy the best. I really like how well it breathes. It isn't wind resistant at all, and I don't think it's super water resistant although I've never had it on without a shell in the rain. It is warm under a shell but needs to be under the shell if there is wind. I can walk more in this than any other puffy jacket I've tried without overheating so I don't have to layer up or down as often.

I have a Ucompaghre vest I use at times too. Day hunting I often have it and one of the full puffys with me in cold weather. I leave the vest on and add the jacket if I plan to stay somewhere for a long time glassing. Backpacking I don't ever seem to take the vest, I always want the warmth of the full jacket if I'm only taking one.

How quiet is the FL puffy? I hunt with a recurve so I would like to keep things as quiet as possible.

The Uncompaghre is pretty quiet. Obviously you'll hear it on dead calm days but its not a loud slippery sound like you get with some puffys.

I wore it bow hunting on windy days last year and it was perfect.

How does the Uncompaghre compare to the new Chamberlin in terms of quietness? I am sure some people have had the chance to get their hands on one.

I got to try it on briefly at the sheep show and to me they are not really interchangeable. The chamberlain is super lofty and crazy warm. I didn't feel like it was any louder than the uncompaghre, in fact it may be a little quieter, but it is definitely more prone to rubbing on itself simply due to its bulky nature. I couldn't see hiking in it very long at all since it is so warm whereas the Uncompaghre is more forgiving in this area. I envision the chamberlain being great for long sits in the cold and not much more. On a side note, I was really impressed with how quiet the catalyst jacket and pant were.
