UM Tikka Ring Design Change?

Thank you for you kind and respectful email Matt. As my reply said, I will get 2 brand new sets of rings out to you first thing tomorrow morning, NDA with FedEx this time so there aren't any more issues with USPS

I really appreciated the Mickey Mouse comment in your email, here are some pics of the Mickey Mouse Shop where the rings are manufactured and assembled.

I have been patient, kind and respectful in all of my communications. Crap happens i get that. I know UM turns out great products I own a few. However this was the first time directly with UM (and Rokstock at about the same time).

My Mickey Mouse comment wasn't the facility, it felt like production had changed and people started using parts bins to build rings to not lose profit. I see now thats not what happened. As you said , you agreed 100% to make things right. Which I appreciate and is great customer service. It was just not a great first experience all around i guess. Sounds like the issues have been fixed. Maybe I appeared more annoyed about the situation than I was, its hard to gauge people's attitudes online. To be clear I will continue to do business with UM. I was only trying to share my experience on a thread I didnt start. I saw someone else did which opened the opportunity. I will always share both positives and negatives. Again thank you Jake for the prompt response on a Sunday morning and a quick resolution.

Centered may not be the correct term.

Depending on which way the screws are positioned on the action (left or right side), they are offset. Albeit a small amount.
Either they are to be mounted with the screws on a certain side, or they are not centered over the barrel.
Are you saying that looking from above, the scope is not centered over the barrel?

the photo shows if you mount the rings with the base screws on opposite sides of each other, they are offset, or not centered to each other.
If the dovetail on the action is centered to the barrel, then the scope will be mounted either to the left, or the right of the barrel. (Yes, I know its minimal)
If it isn’t, then which way am I supposed to mount the rings? Screws left or right?
Once I saw it, I can’t unsee it.

Just got another Tikka and want to know what to expect on my next order.

The original GEN1 were tested and approved.
This was an inline product improvement to reduce SKU's across the UM Ring Line with our new models coming out. We also used the opportunity to improve geometry for better clamping force. No one said redesign because of failures.
I for one am very happy with iterative product improvements, so please do not misinterpret any of my comments as anything against that. I will email you per your request, but as above I in
Me too.

The level screw is on the right for right handed shooter so might as well stack them all up over there.

Oh I do it on the left. That way as a right handed shooter, I can visually inspect nothing has shifted by just glancing.

Just curious, are those ring bases snugged down or sitting on there loose?

They are snug, but not torqued to spec.

After seeing this issue, I mounted them with the screws on the right, which moves them left hoping it would fix the problem of my brass hitting my windage knob on my Trijicon. No luck on that fix

Moving the scope forward or backwards is what you need to do for that problem. I only care if it is positioned where it bounces the brass back into the action. If it deflects it down, then I don’t care.
