Rightly or wrongly, this is what comes to my mind when someone is referred to as a hype man:

Oxi clean is a great product and if you ask that guy there's nothing else like it on the market.

Hype is more commonly associated with extravagance or exaggeration in promoting, though. I don’t think he does that.

When it comes to compensation there are different forms. Actual money. A company building exactly what you want without having to front the money. Shortcut the line. Discounts or total free gear, etc.

If you are getting any type of benefit from a business and posting about their products on SM, it’s hard not to say you are an influencer. Hype man just seems like another term for influencer to me.

So he posts a stock in a stock thread knowing that the only currently available Rokstok Lite stocks are the wooden Tikka prototypes and describes the rifle so he doesn't have the requisite 10 posts of questions of what caliber, what length, what suppressor, what, what, what... and this makes him a "hype man"? The guy is damned if he doesn't show the new projects and now he is condemned for showing them. Some of you guys are too much.

No, but honestly, I just don’t get all the flack Form receives. It seems there’s a lot of folks here who don’t like his personality and therefore try to discredit stuff he says or does just for the sake of it.

I’m not sure if you’re honestly missing the point or just trying to set up your next debate point.

But someone being paid to full time advertise a single product/company with over-the-top vocal and body language is going to be generally considered untrustworthy/shill/hype man regardless of how good the product is. If you don’t agree with that I respect your opinion but suspect you’re in the minority.

For example: I would never consider you a hype man/shill for Katadyn because of this comment:

I've used the katadyn hiker pro for the last 15 years atlest, it's a great system for multiple people no matter the water source.

But if you were on their payroll and posted it every day then I’d start to become suspicious.
