@fwafwow, I had a similar issue with one of my bottom metals (it may have been an Oregon Mountain) on a recent build with a Manners stock. It was contacting the trigger exactly where you show the worn cerakote in your picture. Essentially, when it was tightened down it was locking the trigger in place. As it was a perfect fit in regards to not being sunken or proud and the mags fit just fine, I didn't want to shim it, so I just beveled that edge with a jewelers file until I got the clearance I needed. Hit it with a sharpie to cover up the bare metal and it works perfectly now.
I would almost guarantee that a shim or two will fix your issue.

Update - Thomas has been in touch a few times. He not only gave me a refund, he wants me to keep the bottom metal. I explained that I thought that was not the right outcome, as I didn’t say I was going to use it for an after market stock, and since I still have the OEM stock, it would work with that. He wouldn’t budge. A class act.

Then he called and said he thinks he has a solution. He’s sending me one of the below (in orange!) It was made for the KRG Midas Trigger, so he thinks it may be the solution to the problem. At least the trigger part. I’m going to test it, along with the one I purchased (with more shims) after I get the KRG model, which should be in a week or so. I will report back. 7712251594308517728.jpeg

For anyone reading, that is customer service.

I’ll consider buying these now just to support someone like that.

Oregon Mountain Rifle bottom metal fits flawless in my factory stock but not my Rokstok. Fit is too tight causing the magazine to bind and not snap in place. I did resolve the issue by grinding the bottom metal locally in two separate areas to relieve the tight fit. As stated before the factory plastic fits great in the Rokstok I just don’t like the cheap appearance.

Here’s those washers:

I just got my rokstok and was test fitting the bottom metal in using some washers and noticed the bottom metal was puckering in the middle when tightened but laid perfectly flat in the inlet without screws yet. Looking closer the front hole isn't exactly centered up with the circle in the plastic (which the washer fits snuggly into) so the hole ends up off center a little. Without the washers it all goes together fine. Long story short these washers (without some modification) might not necessarily work depending on how things align.

Anyone in this thread have feeding issues using tikka sporter mags in the HD bottom metal?

I had a hell of a time getting mine to run in a stocky’s vg2. I tried every combination of provided shims possible, different torque specs, and ended up actually modifying the inlet on my stock, moving to thicker stainless shims, and modifying the catch on a tikka mag before it would run. I also experienced some of the trigger and safety jamming issues mentioned in this thread while I was working through the different combinations of shims.

The mag (new tikka m+ sporter) sits very low in the bottom metal when it is latched, in addition to having what I would consider excessive side to side play. The bolt will slide over the top without picking up a cartridge most of the time. If I apply upward pressure to the mag with my hand while cycling the bolt it will run fine but that it obviously not ideal. I extended the catch lip on the front of the magazine about 1/16” using high strength epoxy in order to suck the mag up higher into the bottom metal. This has allowed the rifle to run reliably like it did as a factory rifle but it still has more side to side play than I would like to see.

In hindsight I probably should have tried a different bottom metal before modifying the inlet but I was a victim of my own hard headedness and here we are. Aside from that, I really appreciate the quality machining of the bottom metal and the ability to torque my action to 60 inch/lbs vs the factory tikka plastic versions. Something about plastic just doesn’t jive with me.

Standing by to hopefully learn what I could have done differently!

I received late last week the replacement BM from High Desert. I have not yet had a chance to swap it for the OEM plastic. It's still hunting season and I'm thinking I will wait until later to make the switch, as I will want to be able to take it to the range after.

Update on that now? Considering the KRG Bottom Metal for my new Rokstok.

Thomas normally sends 4 shims with his units when they ship. The only stocks that I've ever had to use them are on Stockys VG2's and Rokstoks.
Note that Thomas has now posted a disclaimer about the BM and Rokstoks - "These stocks are designed work with factory Tikka stocks. The will also work with McMillian, Manners, AG Composites, and Mesa Precision Arms. A gunsmith may be required when installing a bottom metal on Boyds, Stockys and the Unknown Munitions Rokstok." The hope and expectation is that the KRG Midas Trigger version will work, and I believe at least one other Rokstock owner has used it.

Great info, thanks!
