I prefer nitride/stainless like the faxon. And a 1:7 twist for shorter barrels. And a 223 wylde chamber, as I've seen a tad better accuracy there than my 5.56 chambers.
I was reading more about this, and the leade angles are a bit different, and I think the 5.56 chamber had a couple of other looser dimensions, but, if you read a lot about accuracy, it looks to be pretty inconsequential, especially for handloaders. I'm definitely good with Wylde chamber, preferably one that's a little longer for getting heavies up to 2.4" COAL.I prefer nitride/stainless like the faxon. And a 1:7 twist for shorter barrels. 75, 80 and 88 ELDM are all very "pointy" bullets. My Shaw 223 Wylde allows about 2.5" with 88s. I doubt any AR setup will hit lands with any 223/5.56 chamber and 88s or the others mentioned. Given that, the shorter Wylde chamber would be preferable to me as there's a little less jump for all of these bullets. If anything, the amount of bullet jump will probably be more of an issue than leade length.I was reading more about this, and the leade angles are a bit different, and I think the 5.56 chamber had a couple of other looser dimensions, but, if you read a lot about accuracy, it looks to be pretty inconsequential, especially for handloaders. Good deal, sounds like we should just go with the standard wylde chamber then. Only thing I like more than velocity is accuracy!75, 80 and 88 ELDM are all very "pointy" bullets. I was daydreaming today of some tech guru on here tracking down and messaging everyone that has been active in the ulul thread...
Yeah, where the hell is that guy when you need him?
Well, there will be a couple more UL-UL articles in the next G&A AR-15 issue, so maybe slowly but surely? I totally agree though; once people carry and use them, they seem to generally be sold on them.It sure seemed like the Shaw portless barrels sold out quickly... I doubt there would be much risk for this barrel maker to make 25 of each... and in a couple lengths.
But this all highlights something... we would all have a lot more buying options if the idea of "ultralight" was more mainstream. Maybe we take some of this energy and direct it towards the rest of the hunting/shooting community to educate folks as to why ultralight product options and further innovation in this market segment should be the way of the future. 10 years from now we should see sub-2lb rifles lining the shelves of our local sporting goods stores...
The ol’ chap is probably having a pint in London. Or chasing pigs, or off being a “wild hog”Yeah, where the hell is that guy when you need him?
I've been resisting messing with the 6x45 and having to get new dies and bullets, and...but...apparently, resistance is futile.

This conversation has me thinking about putting together packages to sell, like after I build my own, lol.Well, there will be a couple more UL-UL articles in the next G&A AR-15 issue, so maybe slowly but surely? That makes 3 of us on the business idea! This conversation has me thinking about putting together packages to sell, like after I build my own, lol.
I pulled the buffer and spring on one and loved it, but want a full ULUL…
Well, I will help where possible if you guys are on it already. That makes 3 of us on the business idea!
Thanks! I'm just dreaming at this point, gotta wind down my current business that's getting boring, but my buddy might be a lot closer to actually building somethingWell, I will help where possible if you guys are on it already.
I haven't messed with them. My 16" 223 is good to 450+, which is more than enough for me.PistolPete any thoughts on those NAS3 cases and 88 eldms? Seems like the gap between 223 and 22arc would narrow a bit with a high pressure 88eldm while also functioning in these straight pulls
