ULUL 223 Wylde and 6x45 portless barrel thread

I was reading more about this, and the leade angles are a bit different, and I think the 5.56 chamber had a couple of other looser dimensions, but, if you read a lot about accuracy, it looks to be pretty inconsequential, especially for handloaders. I'm definitely good with Wylde chamber, preferably one that's a little longer for getting heavies up to 2.4" COAL.

75, 80 and 88 ELDM are all very "pointy" bullets. My Shaw 223 Wylde allows about 2.5" with 88s. I doubt any AR setup will hit lands with any 223/5.56 chamber and 88s or the others mentioned. Given that, the shorter Wylde chamber would be preferable to me as there's a little less jump for all of these bullets. If anything, the amount of bullet jump will probably be more of an issue than leade length.

I was daydreaming today of some tech guru on here tracking down and messaging everyone that has been active in the ulul thread...

It sure seemed like the Shaw portless barrels sold out quickly... I doubt there would be much risk for this barrel maker to make 25 of each... and in a couple lengths.

But this all highlights something... we would all have a lot more buying options if the idea of "ultralight" was more mainstream. Maybe we take some of this energy and direct it towards the rest of the hunting/shooting community to educate folks as to why ultralight product options and further innovation in this market segment should be the way of the future. 10 years from now we should see sub-2lb rifles lining the shelves of our local sporting goods stores...

Yeah, where the hell is that guy when you need him?

I've been resisting messing with the 6x45 and having to get new dies and bullets, and...but...apparently, resistance is futile.

My last 2 full weight rifles just sold, not counting one family heirloom I'm keeping...
They just aren't as fun to haul around as they used to be!

I remember when UL backpacking was niche. Not totally mainstream now but it got close enough you could put together a descent kit from REI instead of guys selling stuff out of their garage. Maybe UL UL rifles will take off in a similar way
