Ultralight Ultralight Rifles

Yeah mine came to 3lbs 12 ounces with an optic giving me clean shooting to 500 yards. Ain’t no factory anything coming close. The lightest factory rifle I’ve seen would be a full pound heavier, and likely more.

I think POF (patriot ordinance factory) also made a "revolt" that was a straight pull action... at least that's what I saw in a quick Google search.
Yes, I remember that, now that you mention it. I was looking into all of those manual ARs when starting down this path. Probably how POF got into the "manual action AR" mental file in the first place.

Has anyone done a ULUL in more of an AR-10 style platform? With maybe the BCA bolt action upper or anything that has been able to keep the weight down?
I had a POF Rogue 308win for a while, it was 5.9lbs. I bet a half pound or more could be shaved with a portless barrel with a thinner profile (could shave a lot more with a 22CM chambering and a pencil profile to match the shaw barrel) A few ounces could be shaved ditching the gas system parts, another 5-6 ounces with a lighter stock, another 4-6 oz for a lighter forward grip, efc. I think getting it under 4.5lbs would be doable... but without a poly lpk or CF lower, I think getting under 4lbs would be challenging.

Dumb question here. But what scales work well and from where are they purchased? I have one in the kitchen I use for measuring out portions of flour etc. for my sourdough bread. Precise measuring makes a better loaf as I am a duffer in the kitchen too. I am not sure of my max capacity and must weigh gun parts when SWMBO is gone! Be well Brothers, BG.

I use something like you're using. Any digital kitchen type scale that goes to 7 or so pounds. Most go to 11lb (5 kg). Yours would likely work fine. If not, just do a web search. Lots of places have them.

Finally finished my gasser build - 4 lbs 5.9oz. Left a few ounces on the table here and there (CA legal grip, charging handle, topo etched door & rear QD mount, LaRue MBT trigger) but for a budget build with no carbon fiber besides the lower or titanium I’m happy with it.

I think most of us use relatively inexpensive large kitchen scales like the one below or fishing scales.

If 10 of us got together and weighed the same rifle, I bet we would get at least five different readings. 😁
