First big game harvest with the ULUL 77tmk combo. My 16yr old son had the honor. 1 shot on this cow elk at about 110 yards.

What does the "after the shot" report look like? DRT? Ran 40 yards? Over the mountain and through the woods... to grandmother's house? Shot placement.... give us the beautiful details!

It dropped on impact. He had a pretty small shot window through the thick timber. He was going for "high shoulder" but aimed a bit too high and got shoulder/backstrap instead of shoulder/lung. She sort of kicked/slid down the hill a bit. She was incapacitated, but still breathing when we got to her, so I had him put one in the back of her head.

No exit, and the entry was just a tiny hole, but under the front shoulder was quite a mess. The upper third of lung tissue was bruised, but the only hole I saw I couldn't be sure if I had made it myself with the knife or it was a bullet fragment... there was a pretty good sized hole in the backstrap area. This picture probably doesn't do it justice.

It was impressive considering it wasn't ideal shot placement. My daughter made a very similar shot on an elk earlier this season, almost the same place and result... with a 140eld. But I dare say the damage with the little 77tmk was just as bad if not worse.

Still have a few more tags to fill before the end of the year... so maybe we will get lucky and I can get some pics of a real vitals shot with the 77tmk.

When I got back to camp with the 1st deer I shot with the 223 / 77gr TMK, my brother thought I used a 7mm RUM or 375 H&H (as I had been using them years prior). When I showed him the 223 brass in my pocket... he called it a "Angry Bullet". It looked a lot like that with a high shoulder shot.

Looking for a grip that increases the distance to the trigger, any recommendations?

Currently have a Magpul MOE on there (I had it laying around), Are there any grips out there that are spaced backwards about 1/2"-3/4" so my fingers don't cramp up trying to shoot this thing?

Would prefer something moderately angled (like the Magpul MOE I have on there now), and bonus points if it's lightweight.

I know I have large hands, but this is bananas...

Thanks! He has had a good year! This was his second elk this season (we can get an extra cow tag in Idaho some years). He already filled his bull tag on a 350+ bull (rifle), took his first pronghorn buck with his bow, his first mature mule deer buck (rifle), and his second black bear (which was a stud over 6ft). And he still pulled straight A's last trimester even though I took him out of school a few too many days for hunting

Both rubber pieces are show in @khuber84 s picture. O-ring outside the extractor spring and plunger inside the extractor spring.

You bring up a good point though, the three gas rings on the bolt tail should be removed as well, if they're there.

One other point: The spring in the back of the solo bolt doesn't really seem to be necessary. I find it tends to add force in pushing the bolt / bolt carrier out of battery so I remove mine. I was experimenting with adding a plumbing o-ring where the gas rings were in order to add a little friction between the bolt and the bolt carrier to help keep things locked up even better. That probably helps, but also doesn't seem to be necessary.

If im reading above messages correctly, then there are no other modifications to make?

If so, im getting two types of failures as follows. About one in 5 shots failure to fire, and about 1 in 10 shots failure to grab case and eject (stays in chamber and i have to drop mag and rerack to avoid double feed)

Not sure what im overlooking.

Yes, you have that correct; Solo removes those parts from their extractors.

As far as the failure to fire and/or extract, are you sure you're pushing the bolt fully forward into battery? I suppose that could possibly explain both issues.

Also, can you take a picture of the extractor claw? Hard to tell in that picture, but it looks dirty, malformed, or something...maybe.

The only things I've done to help my new upper run a little smoother, is to remove the bolt spring & clip 2 coils off the ball-detent spring. It's still a little sticky compared to the older version, so I may end up doing some polishing on the bolt & rails yet. But I've only got 4 rounds & 10 minutes worth of fiddling on it so far.

I just saw how small and lightweight the Airlock was. I don't know about the B&T...sounds like I need to check the B&T out before deciding...?

I was ignorant of Airlock until now. Looks like it’s at least rated and likely warrantied for larger calibers and prototypes are proven durable. Pretty cool, I might have to pick one up later on for the 223 or larger calibers.

The Tiger is backordered, but at $400 with a $100 SilencerShop gift card, I’m going to give it a shot for my ULUL 223. Will move my AB A10 5.56 to my ultralight 17 cal project whenever the backorder is fulfilled and transfer approved.

Just looked. Like the price, though it might be a bit larger than the Nano, it would likely work fine for most of my uses. Let us know what you think of it. I'm just waiting for the $200 extra for the tax stamp to go away.
