Ultralight Ultralight Rifles

Not that I have a cart full of items from bear creek, but if I was going to build an arc I would try it on the bca side charge upper.
Exactly!

From what i read, it sounds like they are compatible but could have feeding issues. Thegman found a way to improve it. For now im content with keeping it as a gasser though.
But will that work with a Solo upper?

I have some lightweight gassers. But with x calibers sale going on been thinking about getting a solo upper and a 12” 25-45sharps spaghetti contour barrel. Since they offer this reamer option and have a no gas port option with no additional charges. Thinking I can run 90gr absolute hammers at 2700-2800 which would go great with my ZG 6.5 suppessor that’s 5.7oz.

I'll ask again, do you guys mean the side charger gas upper or the bolt action?

Mine is the side charge gas upper but I don’t use gas. Samson gas block turned to plug the gas port. BCA 6 ARC barrel is 30 oz. Total weight on mine with SWFA 3-9 is 6.5 lbs and 7 lbs with 10 rounds in the mag. XLR smoke composite stock with cheek rest. Spartan bipod adapter on the pcc carbon hand guard

Has anyone found a superb trigger for their ULUL setup? My lightweight mil spec does the job but I’m always left wishing for a more premier feel. I have been eying the Jard AR set trigger as I think it’s an interesting concept for my BCA bolt action ULUL 223 AR. Interested to hear any thoughts on the matter. Thanks.

I'm shooting a LaRue MBT-2s in mine, but I retrofitted a lighter trigger & disconnector spring. I'm currently using the stock hammer spring, but I intend to try lighter. I have a 1lb first stage & just under 2lb for the second stage break.

What's going on with your Shaw? Mines been great so far with 75s and 77s
Just seems really fussy. Loads that look good, later, often don't. Tough to rely on it as much as I'd like.

This HAM’R barrel is super consistent and easy to load for. Started as a 23 oz 1 in 13 Ranger profile but has been turned down to about 19 oz, or a bit less. It was the barrel on my first UL-UL at the beginning of this thread, the one with the little grizzly and some Sitka Blacktails (first UL-UL that went to Kodiak).

My Shaw is a 1 in 7 twist that was made as a "prototype", so maybe a little different in consistency than the 1 in 8 production runs...???

I have read through this thread more than once contemplating putting one together and I think I’m finally going to go ahead and do it. Does anybody have an updated go-to parts list for the typical ULUL?

I'm wondering about the merits of going 223 vs 6mm using the solo. My plan would be having it as light as possible without going crazy on customizing the off the shelf parts. I'd do some but don't want to get too involved. I don't want to have to hand load for it, so that kinda necessitates 6arc if going 6mm. 6 would be nice for states that have that as min caliber.

But in such a light gun, would the reduction in shoot ability from recoil of a 6 be such that a 223 would be a better choice?

I'm a long way from building one, but continuously pondering it.

My 223 Wylde is under 5 pounds with silencer and 3x micro prism on a regular lower with a metal lower parts kit and trigger. My budget 300 Solo build list is just above.

If u want lite as possible 223 is your pick. The 6mm barrel weight adds up quickly.

Wilson Combat barrel (.300 Ham'r)

Milspec buffer tube (to donate the thread & endcap)

Carbon tube for the stock/buffer tube replacement (with a piece of black suede)

Farrowtech stock (or this https://a.co/d/95l0Moz) + a flip flop if you go .300 (worth it)

Wiland 10" PCC carbon handguard (plus a strip of skateboard grip tape)

Hogue grip

Trigger of your choice,

Scope of your choice (SWFA UL 2.5-10/Leupold UL 2-7x28/ Primary Arms 5x Microprism are the lightest options)

ACS stainless 10 round .350 Legend mag (longer COAL)

And thassabout it! 4lb 5oz, give or take. Could get lighter, but it seems a bit unnecessary at this point (for me)
