Ultralight Ultralight Rifles

Oh, I was thinking bolt inside carrier
No such thing, that I know of, anyway. I've never seen or heard of anything other than a steel bolt for an AR. Bolts have to made to very exacting size tolerances, and of only a few types of steel, so any weight difference would be miniscule. Just the difference of the steel alloy density, which would be very negligible.

Makes sense, and I know ti galls easily, so wrong application. I need more coffee today...

Unfortunately I think not, because it's standard threads. I had to order a foot of threaded stainless rod, and then jb welded a little piece in the Standoff.
Hey. You were right. Although my bolt seemed to be 5mm, it was actually 10-32 threads. I ended up drilling a through hole and turning down the shank of that standoff instead. Also, the "titanium" screws I ordered were of course steel 🙄.

Anyway, this saves about 1/3 oz.

Has anyone dropped tested either of these to see how well they do? i’m planning on using an SWFA 2.5–10. Happy to take advice on other options as well.

Dioni the Leupold mark AR 30mm is 6 oz or just over with high torque specs, 5 base screws and two cap screws. I’ve been impressed with the two I have. I also have a Warne skel 30mm that is 6.7 oz and solid with two ring cap screws.

Are you going to run a 22 ARC?

I haven't drop tested... but I had the aero ultralight 1 inch mount with an swfa 2.5-10 all last year, it was carried for a lot of miles, in and out of the truck, on and off the quad, etc. Never lost zero.

That's what I run as well (the Aero), the standard on the 2.5-10 and the "medium" extended with everything else. I'm not going to drop test one, but I've covered a lot of ground though a lot of tough country and travel for a couple of years with them and no issues so far. I do put liquid tape on the rings when installing a scope to insure there's no slipping.

I had an aero on my Gasser back when they were legal here and broke the top clip Tahr hunting. But id expect very little to survive the fall it failed in. I fell about 30feet and had the rifle hang up in some brush, rip the attachments of my pack and then tumbledown after me.
