Without modification, I believe the JAG Composites barrel nut is the lightest.

There is a cheap barrel nut on ebay that can be trimmed.

Trimmed, you can get the JAG down to 20 grams.

Has the actual dimensions of the lightest contour been posted somewhere? Would like a sense check before I reprofile a barrel.

The barrel nut NFA uses on their short handguards is probably the lightest barrel nut made. 0.6oz. This is what I used for my "Little Big Gun's" handguard which is 1.9oz at 9". They are now knurled, instead of the linear grooves.

I was able to order several as barrel nuts only. Need a few more now.

They're not drilled and tapped for screws, so easiest to use with some kind of clamp over a CF tube. I used/use modified CF seatpost clamps from ebay that weigh about 6 grams for that part.

I know cutting weight in optics isn't the place for most people, especially west of the Mississippi river, but I can use 1x power for most of my hunting.

I used a GLX 1x last year, which was 9.5 oz with low mount, a neoprene cover, sun shade, and spare battery.

This year I am going to use a Holosun SCRD with low mount, which is 4 oz with the rubber lens covers. Saving 5.5 oz is significant for me at this point so I'm happy.

I'm just curious if any of you smart gram counting folks know if it's possible to remove the steel recoil lug from a kimber 84m (I'm assuming the barrel would have to come off first). Has anyone ever tried having a titanium lug made for it to shave a few more grams?

Screw weight difference.

1" stainless vs 3/4" steel vs 3/4" titanium.

Are those screws for the bolt handle?

Speaking of bolt handles, Solo may be making extended handles for optic clearance for those that need that.

I asked if he'd ever thought about making aluminum bolt handles. He hadn't and thought they might not hold up. I said I thought they would, especially if a snug fit with the bolt, and would be glad to field test a few! Not sure if he'll make them or not. I should bug him about it...😅

Aluminum bolt handle + titanium bolt would be good...even though I'm not really trying to lighten more than I have, could always add weight somewhere else.

That's the grip screw.

I ordered a few titanium screws for the bolt handle. I expect that to go from 4.15 grams to around 2.38 grams.

I cut my bolt handle down and it went from 13.75 grams to 7.5 grams. At some point I may have an aluminum bolt handle made or just use the screw and no other handle.

My aluminum electronics board Standoff is working well. The details are buried somewhere in this thread, back about 2-3 months I'd guess. It's significantly lighter than the titanium knob that's available

I think mine is m5 thread... Edit - it's not. It's 10-32

Oh, I was assuming 1st gen Solo for no good reason. Hopefully Solo reads this and changes to metric, lots of aluminum knobs available...

Hey @Thegman do you clip your detent springs or mag catch springs when using polymer LPKs and/or polymer lowers?
No, I haven't needed to do that. For all those parts I'm using the NFA Poly LPK parts and either TN Arms or NFA lowers (NFA is on my UL gasser). They seem to work fine without modification, although now that you mention it, having slightly shorter springs in those spots might work a little better (?).

I think it was @robtattoo, a long time ago, that brought these to my attention. In order to get these to work as well as I'd like, you'd need to machine the interface to the same dimensions as the solo bolt handle so it's a firm, non-wobbly interface with the bolt carrier. With said modification, these should work fine with your titanium bolt.
