Curious, besides ULUL barrels:

What else would you like to see produced/sold/acquired for a group buy and online sales?

Non-FFL items for now.

Pretty good options for most other items.

Upper/bolt and carrier
Stock like XLR smoke composite with bag rider. Ridiculous price on this but I’ll probably get one because the usability at 6.5 oz for longer range precision shots is so much better than a farrow tech butt with flip flop or other minimal pad. Seems a butt that will integrate with A2 buffer and a reasonable price, weight, and has a rear bag support area could be a great market addition. Easy enough to cut an A2 for the ends and put a carbon tube between them for length, weight, and non metal on your cheek

OK, I am ordering all the parts I can to build the full on ULUL. I have shot my stripped down gasser, but now I want to get the real thing done.

I am trying to compile the list of options from builds, and the sources for barrel/forend nuts, tubing, etc, but I only got through the first 23 pages of all 148 before giving up, lol.

If you all can help me, reply to this thread with a link to a post in this thread, or whatever information.

I'll keep updating this post, and then create a list and we can add it to a file to attach to the first post or something.

Here is a list of AR 15 part weights from Reddit that @ericmcd found.

This is from the first build by @Thegman
  • New Frontier Armory lower and parts kit (not the most durable, but it works for now)
  • Faxon .223 pencil weight 16" barrel
  • Fostech FLITE Elite Upper
  • Smoke Composites handguard and stock (used fletching tape to add two Hypalon strips for grip against shoulder)
  • Brownells lightweight BCG
  • Taccom ULW buffer
  • Sokek Solutions Arca rail
First @StupidLightweight build
  • --16" BSF barrel without gas port
  • --Slick side aluminum upper
  • --Wiland USA PCC handguard
  • --Kaiser-US polymer lower
  • --Folding AGP Arms stock
  • --Aero mount w/ Weaver 4x28 Classic
  • --TriggerTech trigger
  • --Nottingham Tactical ti charging handle
Second StupidLW build
  • NFA polymer lower and lower parts kit
  • Blackthorne polymer upper that I whittled on for side charge
  • Shaw barrel turned into spaghetti strand (16.3 oz.)
  • DSA aluminum carrier with Nottingham Tactical Ti charging knob
  • DIY carbon fiber and aluminum handguard
  • A1 buffer tube Swiss-cheesed and capped with polymer sling loop
  • Hogue 15-degree polymer grip with V7 titanium grip screw
  • Crimson Trace CT-1400 optic
  • Paracord sling wrap
Jan 2024 build by @packgoatguy
  • Solo300 upper
  • Faxon 223wylde pencil barrel
  • Tennessee arms carbon stripped lower
  • NfA lpk
  • V7 ti grip screw
  • Hogue 15 degree grip (then skeletonize to take off a half ounce)
  • JAG composites barrel nut
  • Farrowtech buttstock
  • JA machine straight aluminum buffertube (will be lighter and way cheaper than a smoke composites, especially if you add some holes to skeletonize it a bit)
  • BTFA folder adapter if you need a folder (of skip the above and use the IMI kidon, and add some foam for a more comfortable butt stock and more LOP)

  • For a handguard, find a piece of aluminum or carbon fiber tube that has an inside diameter that closely matches the outer diameter of the barrel nut...
This is what I have so far for the additional list:
  • TN Arms Carbon fiber lower
  • Solo 300
  • Bear Creek Arsenal pencil barrel and side charging upper
  • Bear Creek Bolt Action
  • KP15 polymer lower/stock combo
  • Carbon 10 lower
  • DSA aluminum BCG
  • Wilson UL barrel
  • Wiland 15” handguard
  • folding stock
  • Jag Composites ultralight hand guard
  • DIY handguard, but need purchase details from @left hunter and @StupidLightweight
  • New Frontier polymer lower and lower parts kit
  • Light stock folding mechanism, Btfa from sb tactical.
  • link to packgoatguy recipe for lightweight folding stock
  • Kidon folding stock, screws into buffer tube.
  • List of durable lightweight scopes.
  • Notingham Tactical titanium bolt handle
  • DIY stock option from @doverpack12, cut an A2 for the ends and put a carbon tube between them for length, weight, and non metal on your cheek, can use the A2 threaded end for a buttpad

👍 That's not my build though. Not sure who's it is.

I would scratch folders from the ultralight list, as they're heavy and expensive, and less compact than a screw-off design. I prefer the design that I first saw posted by Gman. Cut an aluminum buffer tube so you have a threaded stub, and glue a piece of carbon tube to it, and then a farrowtech with the angled end cut off. It's about $70 total, right about 3oz, and you adjust the length of pull when you cut the carbon tube to fit you. This also gives you a second carbon tube if you buy the $30ish dollar 2 pack that I found. The whole unit screws off and on in seconds. Or, packgoatguy's design pops right off, and is slightly lighter.
-also, after shooting hot loads at 3.5 pounds (total with scope, sling, etc) without my suppressor I found that a recoil/butt pad is not necessary unless you are extremely recoil sensitive. I use a slip on pad while practicing as it let's me completely ignore recoil.
-I know packgoatguy already has a lighter upper in the works, but I'd want the solo bolt or something as light to be included, or at least compatible and available individually for an easy ULUL upper. Maybe the aluminum bcg mentioned above is the ticket.

Nas3 case update: at 3000fps (62gr), (probably 3025+ once broken in):
-Case grew .012" jamming it in the chamber.
- I'm convinced in a gas gun that the action opening during the cycle avoids this bind, and so they're probably a good bet for one use (disposable cases) when ran hot.
- you have to shoot them waaaaay under pressure to avoid binding as the cases are longer in the first place, and I'm guessing that they need to be to get a proper seal since they don't expand as easily as brass.
-unless we can bump the shoulder back i think they are junk for us because you have to beat the action open. (Does the BCA "bolt action" have more leverage for extraction?) Waiting on packgoatguy to fire them in the wylde chamber, and then I'm probably selling mine.
-I'll reach out to the couple of people that I'm sending cases soon.
