I wish i would have done whatever you did cause that's 2.8 pounds less than my gasser, despite all the research on parts. Oh well. Mine is sitting at 6.3 pounds with swfa ul 2-10x33 on aero mounts.

I’m not the best resource. But:

TNA lower

A2 buffer tube
Farrow tech butt

NFA lower parts kit minus trigger
Geissele trigger

Troy industries upper from primary arms(a few other options same weight or less) but these are 30.00 right now.

Whatever lightweight charging handle

Law ARIC bcg

Pick your flavor of 6 ounce carbon hand guard and barrel nut

BCA pencil barrel

SA adjustable gas block

I’m sure I’m missing something. And I’m sure there’s a way to shave an ounce or 4. But this nets 3.5lbs.

Trackselk would you please share where you got carbon buffer tube ThThanks
Rc-wing.com
But, I would seriously look into how @packgoatguy did his, because boring out the farrowtech was a pain and made it weaker. On the other hand, the smaller diameter that he used might not be as good for a cheek weld, but it may be lighter than my 3.2oz combo. Here's the size I used, oh, I also had to shim the tube stub up a little and use thick glue. I used superglue gel as the shim, and E6000 which worked pretty well.

30mm O.D. 28mm I.D. 30x28x500mm 30mm 3K Roll Wrapped 100% Pure Round Carbon Tubes (2 PCS) × 1

You can shave about 2oz with 35x37mm carbon tube from Amazon, even more if you drilled a bunch of holes in it. Saves cash too.
*if you're using the Jag composites nut anyhow
*required 2 wraps of electrical tape front and rear of the nut as shims.

If someone wanted to build a dedicated eastern whitetail gun (say max distance 200 yards) is there a reason im overlooking not to build a 10.5" barrel or similar pistol build? You should have 1800fps out to 300 yards which should be enough to expand most tipped bullets (based on calc for 223 73gr eldm at my altitude).

The slower velocities would actually give better penetration too, right? Lack of pass throughs seemed to be the biggest con i read in the 223 thread from whitetail hunters.

That would shave off a good bit of weight, and be a wieldy length with an 8" can.

Gasser, not bolt pull. Something approximating a mark18

My 12.5" worked very well up close. 12.5" gained significant velocity over 10.5" with heavier bullets.

@hereinaz would your hunter scoped action armor 12” be the right fit for one of these ulul ar builds with a 5 round magazine and a microprism? Or the ultralight SWFA?
The Hunter will fit around the action, with 5 round. It will not go around the grip. The tactical version will go around the grip too.
