Ultralight Ultralight Rifles

Yeah! AA 2200, 2230, 2460, 2520, SW Tactical, AR Plus, Match Rifle, Benchmark, 3031, Alliant Varmint, AR Comp, RL 10X, X-Teminator, Tac...

I suppose you'll try 335, but that's one I've actually never had nor used but will probably need to try with the 6x45.
I have 2230 (the American version of x-terminator-from Belgium), varget, 8208xbr, h335 and h322. I think I have 2200, 2015, benchmark, but I think I traded my tac with a buddy. I’ll go through my powder supply tomorrow. I definitely don’t have a bunch of those though.

No problem...I was just shotgunning off the top of my head stuff I had that might work in the 6x45. Anything you learn will be useful! 👍

I think this year I'll try to test out the 75 Fusion/Gold Dot in the 223 and the 90 ELD-X in the 6mm, and if there are enough opportunities, maybe some stuff in the 300BO/300 HAM’R...see what's what with the UL-UL chambering options.

First ULULOG? lol. 36 3/4" OAL, 28 1/2" with the stock folded

Love the balance compared to the other muzzle-forward cans I've had on here. Oughta run the 20 shot drill with it to see if I score better on my off hand and seated unsupported shots.

I have wondered bout an OG on one of these. with unknown starting to make more models it would be interesting to see one with 1/2-28 threads to add a little internal diameter around the pencil barrel and maybe shave some weight internally thinning it up, or take an inch off of it, to only use on 223 based cases instead of magnums (called the ulul of course)...... let us know how it shoots with it on.

I took inventory, I have x-term, h335, 8208xbr, lever, cfe223, aa2015 and a pile of slow powders. I’m thinking h335 will get the fastest velocity with the case capacity with the longer bullets. I don’t mind trying others I have on hand if you want.

I'd be interested to see how you do with cfe223. After h335, that would be the next one I have on hand to try.

Quickload thinks 748 and BL-C2 will be near the top, followed by 335 a bit down. Probably CFE/LVR and X-Teminator on either side of that with respect to burn rates.

I know this has probably been covered but what is the best way to block the gas port I’m building my first ultralight straight pull and I have a Faxon pencil barrel that call for a .625 gas block my brother has a BCA bolt action that has a sleeve over the gas port but I’m having trouble finding one in a .635 diameter any help appreciated

The easy button is getting a simple and light gas block and install it backwards.

I know guys on here have threaded the port and filled it with a screw/epoxy and then sleeve. I took the easy route with my Faxon barrel and a Samson gas block installed “incorrectly”

I did the threading + set screw with loctite and then tac welded it in place. Turned out pretty nice. Then I upgraded it to a Shaw Portless barrel.

I've mostly used these as the lightest option: https://www.midsouthshooterssupply....iameter-aluminum-low-profile-barrel-gas-block

May have to cut part of the top off to fit under handguard depending on what you're using. I've noticed however that the aluminum blocks start eroding quite a bit over the gas port in 223s. 30 caliber UL-ULs tend to plug the port with copper pretty quickly so in that case, the gas block is just holding in the plug. Might work to turn them upside down and use the set screw to hold a steel plug in the port (small flat head nail might work for that). Otherwise, a steel gas block like @Taudisio used would probably erode a lot less in this application.

Probably too heavy, but have thought about using something like this as well.

I went out to reload this morning and realized all of my fired brass are loaded up. I didn’t think it would be fair to the eldx to test in fresh brass, so I decided to hold off on loading until I pop a few squirrels

Not ultra ultra light using that. The bca collar I have weighs about 1 ounce. I drilled and tapped mine to save that 1 once.

Did you need to weld the screw or did it hold as is? These aren't usually high volume shooters so I'm thinking red loctite would hold it well enough?

I drilled my BCA to fit a plug under the aluminum gas block to stop the gas erosion. Got it done but it didn't go easy and it was a small amount of drilling. Maybe I need a much better/sharper bit for the job.
