Ultralight Tripod Options

It has very low resolution between lockup and flop over. You move the lever the tiniest bit and it changes drastically, makes it hard to glass smoothly. Also sometimes you think it has enough tension to hold it's self up after gridding for a bit, but then your spotter just flops over.

Ill sell you mine :)
If only using binos to glass, would the BCL ballhead be a good solution? I don't have a spotter at this time.

The Back Country Lite and LP combo is nice. Super light and super easy to pack.
I have the same setup and really like it, when going as light as possible. Doing it over, I’d get the Wiser over the Tricer. Tricer’s pricing has gotten silly for being made of Chinesium IMO.

Do you miss anything using the BCL compared to the Front country ballhead outside of the weight difference?

how does the sirui 124 compare to the slik?

I preferred the Slik 632 and/or 633 over the Sirui 124. On the Sirui ST-124 I had, I could not get a good firm lock up on the triangular center column. Even when clamped down there was a lot of play in the center column and I could push it down by hand. The leg stiffness and leg locks on the Slik were better too IMO. Maybe the Sirui I got was a lemon.

The Slik 632 is short, even for sitting at times. I have recently ordered a MTN HNTR SS which has a similar feature set but offer more height to compare. I LOVE having just a two piece leg section to adjust.
