Ultralight barrel and suppressor ?

Has anyone ever added a suppressor to an ultra-lite barrel? I have a Weatherby Mark V ultralite 7mm rem mag. with fluted barrel with a factory accubrake installed currently. I was wanting to add a Banish Backcountry suppressor but concerned about the added weight to such a small barrel. anyone have any input good or bad ?

I have a couple of the Backcountrys on order. One will be going on a Tikka T3 Superlite in 300WM. We'll see what happens.

Not ultra light like a #1 contour, but my chopped Tikkas shoot great.

My barrel is 26 "fluted, and already threaded.

I have a Griffin ultralight 300 on my 110 lightweight storm, barrel is cut to 18” stacks em at 200

Yes you need to re zero your gun when you use a silencer.

Should I worry about the barrel being pencil diameter and not have eenough shoulder fro the can ?

I would shorten the barrel but I don't think it would be possible being fluted.

You can cut into the flutes, but that's a pretty pricey rifle to do something wonky to. If you want to shoot suppressed, you might seriously consider switching rifles. With your current rifle, your options are to be obnoxiously long, or have a goofy looking setup, assuming there's even enough meat under the flutes to support threads.

A rifle with a 26" barrel and an added 5 or 6 inch can would definitely change the rifle balance.

I personally wouldn't use a suppressor on a 26" barrel anywhere but at the range, and even then it is tough. I have a 24" barrel on my Tikka 7RM and even a 6.5" suppressor is tough.
I am getting ready to cut down two more barrels to 20" (a Tikka 6.5 Creed and a Ruger American in 6.5 Gren) but I wouldn't recommend that for your rifle. If you really want to shoot suppressed, either have it rebarreled or sell it and buy one with a shorter barrel. I hear the new Christensen FFTs are nice.

The rifles I have that I use silencers on have been cut back to 18”, 16” for me 22s.

I have a Kimber Mtn Ascent in a 280AI. I did cut 2” off the barrel to make it a 22”. I use a Nomad Ti on the end of it, and so far I’ve had no problems. Helped tighten up my groups a bit.

How did you have enough shoulder? My Montana barrel would have to get cut back just over 5" just to get to .6" for 1/2-28 threads.

That allows me to get 5/8x24 direct thread on my Kimber Montana.

I had the same thing done to a tikka 30-06, cut to 18” and shouldered for 5/8x24 direct thread.
