Ulralight stock recommendations

I have a savage 16 lightweight in 6.5 CR and I'm thinking about upgrading the stock, while staying as light as possible and compact. Suggestions? I was set on wildcat composites up here in Canada but they said they don't make savage stocks, and they didn't seem interested in starting.
 
I just ordered a bell and Carlson sporter stock for a savage 30-06 long action weighs 2.5. Idk if it is light enough for you I’ll follow up with you when I get it if your interested.
 
Not as many options for the savage. I think your best bet is an Edge fill Mcmillan. I know they inlet for savages.
 
Welcome to the search for the holy grail my friend. If you find an ultralight for a savage, let the rest of us know. The McMillian is about the only option, and it's expensive compared to other makes like the Wildcat. It seems that the best option is really to get a wood stock and shave it down as much as you can, then glass and pillar bed it. I'm going to try that with my Savage that I plan on using as a mountain rifle for the next couple years.
 
Honestly the best advice is to sell your gun and buy a different one.

Probably not what you want to hear..

Like buying a 2 wheel drive truck and realizing you want 4wd.. sell it, take a haircut and start fresh.
 
What about High Tech Specialties??
Don't know if they make one specifically for Savage, but odds are a gunsmith near you could get a blank, and inlet for a Savage..
Or most stocks, for that matter..
But that could also be an expensive way to find out you really hate a stock after sinking a bunch of money into it.
 
If you already have a LWH, then you're probably not going to find a lighter stock. The plastic stock is only 22 oz. and even the walnut LWH stock is only 27 oz.

I have the walnut LWH stock on my model 10 7mm-08 and it has become my favorite Savage stock of all time. I absolutely love it and it looks great too.

Before I found the walnut LWH stock I have now, I called Savage and asked if I could buy one directly. They said sure - for $300. I got mine for $200 on the used market.

I may be wrong but I "think" High Tech Specialties makes the LAW stocks - If I'm correct that takes them at least out of the "fast turnaround" category

Haha the Original stock isn't THAT bad. I'm not a fancy gun kind of guy, but a stock upgrade seemed easy and worth it functionally.
 
Maybe if enough of us bug Wildcat they'd change their minds about Savage. It seemed like the ideal option... when I thought it was an option haha

Had a tikka. Was fine, but the stock on that was also trash. Slippery when frozen, hollow sounding, hockey puck recoil pad. I've seen many guys replacing the kimber stock as well. I got a good deal on my savage so the Kimber and tikka both cost more (at least up here,) and i dont think theyd be any better.

Original "T3", yes maybe a bit NONgrippy, the T3X stocks ? I have absolutely NO complaints about them whatsoever, VERY "grippy", light "enough", stiff enough, and with a $35 LS aircell pad ?(the type a bunch of aftermarket stock makers are choosing) PERFECT for me ...

Fair enough. I haven't handled a t3x. Good to hear they fixed the stock.
 
Check with AG Composites. They have some very lightweight stuff and have been open to in letting in the past. To my knowledge
