UL 3-Legged Camp Chair

I bought one kind of similar from dicks sporting goods just for kicks, not the exact same but it cost $25 and lasted me two days before breaking. It didn't break because it couldn't hold the weight but because any slight twisting motion from looking around wore it out (only used in camp so didn't take long to break). Checkout the helinox chair, I have the Mystery Ranch version and while I have only used it a few times it is built like a tank, I really like it.

Saw a picture of Luke and becca where they were using an adaptor to turn a 3/4 sleeping mat into a stadium chair for glassing sheep. Your not off the ground but it would let your back rest

Has anyone humped one of these units up a mountain?

What about a build your own frame? Take the corner-pocketed fabric top and some paracord in with you and lash your own frame at any height you wanted.

I believe that is the same company/chair as the MR except the MR is built a little more heavy duty. For $20 more and a small weight penalty I went with the MR. That chair should be just as comfortable as my MR.

I have the Helinox chair and used it this year. I like it very much and it held me fine and I'm a big guy. 6'4" and about 260lbs this fall. It is pretty comfortable but could be higher for me but it beat the hell out of the rocks and dirt.

My wife used that one last year on our sheep hunt, but only issue was the legs sink in the soft ground and she lost one of the plastic covers for one leg. REI took it back and let her exchange it, not a bad chair, but pin the leg caps.

I'm ashamed to say how many miles I have packed this one, but worth it for my back and knees, I can't get up off the ground as easy as I once could, so I like the back rest and not having to sit on the ground.

I used one on my trip to Alaska for Moose this year and I can see the legs sinking in as it happened to me. Back in camp we had to keep moving our chairs. I had actually bought one of the lightweight ones with no back but ended up using the ones provided for camp. The REI branded ones.."Tripod with no back support" I used in the pack while calling. I like that style as it makes you more mobile when in the chair. No problem with what I had brought on my drop camp. Prices go up with the added back and so does the weight. Bob.

I use the walkstool 55 and I really like it. I used it all season last year and will definitely use it going forward. It is made in Sweden and is definitely tough enough for extended field use. I also used the chair without the telescopic legs extended a lot more than I expected.

Big fan of the 48" long prolite thermarests with the trekker chair.....gives you a backrest as well as a sleeping pad for an emergency bivy on the mountain ( which has happend 3-5 times the past 3 years). Just like having things that do more than one task in my pack.

Iv got a kifaru field chair. Don't know what to think of the thing yet. Sometimes its awesome, and sometimes its a pain in the ass. For the most part I like it and ill keep using it.

Should not have gotten it in highlander though. First time I took it out I lost it glassing on a hill side. Spent 40 minutes looking for the thing
