Yes but not like when I was young and could take the pounding of double aerobic workouts. Now they are two different forms of workouts.
Early A.M. is strength training with every other day a posterior chain/pelvic girdle workout to keep my back pain at bay. The alternate day is just strength training for useless Hollywood muscles to combat old age muscle loss. Almost all my strength training would be considered supersets where I’m not really resting between sets I’m just alternating between two different exercises for 3 sets until I get through all of my exercises and they are grouped by the amount of weight that’s compatible.
Later A.M. is aerobic be it Nordic skiing, or running but every non winter week I do at least one day but preferably two days of interval training usually hill bounding with ski poles and I also try to do another day of hill repeats on roller skis. One of my aerobic workouts should also be a longer over distance day in the low zone.
Now I’m not doing this 7 days a week. Usually I’ll train two days and shoot one day then repeat. So my shoot day is my recovery day and I rarely walk more than 3-5km on shoot day. I’m retired so it’s kind of like I’m back in college except I can sleep whenever I want and my abs don’t look the same.
Of course it all goes out the window when I’m backpacking or for wife maintenance.
