I know the difference is extremely minimal but where is it best to measure length to target from, end of barrel or turrets?
Bryan Litz from Applied Ballistics says turrets. A Hornady podcast about 4Dof says end of barrel.

It doesn’t matter as long as you are consistent across all ranges… for me it’s easier to be consistent being level with the turrets.

Since we are picking fly poop out of pepper… being at the turret and at rifle level also forces a more accurate angle calculation.

Never considered it. I've always measured by end of muzzle. I guess turrets would be "better", because your adjustments and measurements are being made in the scope, based off bullet impact... makes the location of your muzzle rather irrelevant.

With that said, like the above posts, there's no way in hell that 16" to 22" difference would ever make enough difference for me to care. Other variables like being level to your target or inaccurate RF readings are probably the same if not more of a concern.

Interesting post though, never thought about that.

When you range a target(animal etc) to shoot it, you range it from your person. And your person isn’t standing where your muzzle is, it’s right next to the scope..so for that reasoning I’d say you use the scope…but like has already been said, Im not good enough to shoot that difference.
