TT 25 or TT 25 mini for a springer spaniel

I have a springer pup that I would bet is going to be about 40-50lbs. she’s currently 25-30 lbs and am wanting to get her training collar but have been debating which size to get. If I got the regular size I can get a big discount through work for $270 but I cannot get the mini on discount so it’ll will cost me the $350+. Is the regular going to fit just fine or should I really be looking at the mini. She’s young but am wanting to throw it on her to get used to it for a few weeks before I begin collar conditioning.

I have a couple walker/bluetick females that weigh about 50 pounds. We use TT25s on them without issue. We use them starting from when they’re a pup and they’re pretty small.

35lb setters? Thats so small for a setter.

As to the OP I run the bigger one on my 60lb griff and its fine. I would think it would be big I n a puppy. I started my dog on a 550.

Question for you and there's not a right or wrong question. Do you need GPS for a flushing dog? I mean its in visual range of you when you're hunting it? And if you want the peace of mind if its out of sight or runs I totally get that.

Me personally for a spaniel, I would go smaller.

Peace of mind! We have a property we hunt that is a whole 1/4 section planted to switchgrass that is fertilized for the purpose of harvesting native grass seed and is 5 foot tall and thick. Amazing pheasant hunting….. however I had a buddy take his Brittany out that locked on point multiple times and would not come off point and would take us 15 min before we could find him within 35-40 yards of us. Also had a Boykin that had great recall we would lose all the time in there just from being so thick it couldn’t hardly find us back. Just like to not have to worry when you can’t see the dogs 75% of the time.

I also got a really good deal on very very lightly used alpha 10 handheld from a buddy so I’ll be around $450 into a brand new garmin gps setup so I assumed buy once cry once.

You can always buy the regular size to try then if you don't like it buy the shorter antennas to convert it to the mini configuration. I run TT25 in mini config on my french brittanies.

A lot our the west coast setters are sub 50lbs, the east coast dogs seem to be bigger.

My Gordon ranges from 40lbs off season to 32/33 once we get ripping during season. My half breed (gordon/english) runt will get down in to 26/27 and off season is 32-34.

I much prefer small light dogs for the country we hunt, they don’t need to break through any brush etc..

The tt25 min is the same receiver as the tt25. It just has the short flex band or zero flex band. I used the regular ones on my brittanys at first. They either didnt offer the mini or I didnt know about it. I later converted them to the zero flex band. They are better fit for my brits which are 38 or 39 lbs.
