Truck Warranty Experience Question

Glad you are up and running...

This is my fourth Chevy 1500 and have had zero problems, before this one, besides 1 fuel pump go out at 120,000 on my first one. Had to bring my current one in and it turned out to be a crappy deal I had to go in 4 different times. Instead GM of using common sense and realizing that at times certain things are predictable and when x part goes bad y and z are going to also. The dealership was trying their best to get them to do it all at once but to no avail.

Lets just say after 3 different times of changing plans because I couldn't take the dealership loaner "off of pavement...tow...have a pet in it"...I found myself driving 2 miles out on to a lake ice fishing with the 4th one. Why would they even have pickup loaners if you can't use them.

Bed space

Costco runs.

The building materials and appliances industries are also in the tank when it comes to lead times. I feel bad for the guys at the dealer. I bet they have been given an ETA by the distributor and the goalpost moves every time they call. If you’d like to experience this for yourself, try to buy a replacement compressor for your refrigerator. Especially if it’s a Samsung.

Thanks for the input. Unfortunate to hear it's not isolated to Dodge but it will help me make future purchase decisions. I agree on the loaner. They should be able to work something out to allow for actual truck usage.

After my buddy almost died when the steering went out on his Ram with ~20K, I would not be inclined to buy one.

After I saw how they treated him after the incident, trying to suggest that the accident caused the steering issue and refusing to warranty it, I would NEVER buy one. Turns out the steering issue was a known problem and I understand there may be some sort of limited recall around it.

All vehicles/manufacturers have their problems and unfortunately it doesn't seem like there is a ton of consistency on factory warranty resolutions. I can say at least my experience with GMC/Chevy is overwhelmingly positive. bewtween myself and my family I have seen at least 30 trucks bought and ran to atleast 175,000 many well past that before being sold and no major issues with any of them (and we use our trucks). You will find people with the same experience with other manufacturers also.

It's been a little while but just curious - they said the filter in the tank? Because the ecodiesel filter is located right above the driveshaft near the rear diff.

I bought a 2020 Chevy 1500 back in April. 2 weeks later it wouldn't start for my wife, and I was 40 miles away at work. The dealer came and towed our truck and gave us a 2019 1500 off of the used lot for a loaner. The parts to fix the 2020 were backdated months, so after waiting a couple of weeks to exhaust every Avenue for parts, they traded us out with a substantial upgrade. Went from the 5.3L engine to the 6.2L, LT trim package up to the LTZ, and from basic white to satin steel. The new loan costs $19 per month more than the original. I am happy with the way the dealer handled this issue...it could've ended up being a long, drawn out nightmare. Trucks are not what they used to be, so I spend more time picking a good dealer than a good truck.

i read it as the filter at the pickup tube. could be wrong.
