Truck Topper for camping

Been slowly working to have a camp setup in the back of the truck topper- finding this post spurred me to finish what I have been slowly working towards. Couple years back I put a soft topper on and have used it to put a cot and bedroll in occasionally. Earlier this year put on the tailgate seal kit. realized I had some 2' wide plywood and 2 by 4 shelving that didn't fit in this garage setup, also had some older carpet from a previous project. So cut the shelving down to length and attached the carpet. Secured the front legs with some "S" hooks and tightener things. Also the wife picked up an awning at a yard sale this last year- it is now in a tote under the cot. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B011QV9T7...ZIXXDFRG&psc=0&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it This very likely will be my hunt camp setup for a couple hunts this year.

I posted this in another thread on rokslide. Ive been hunting out of my trucks since 1989. The number one problem is dust mitigation followed closely by condensation. A lined topper and bedrug virtually eliminate both.

i built a shelf in the front that will hold 3 large totes and a tool box. A good matress and cooler are a must. I change sleeping bags or blankets according to conditions.

I keep guns bows and valuables in the cab out of plain sight.

I never built a sleeping platform since i like the ability to move stuff around to suit my needs. If i need to trow a deer in the back i have a tarp and am good to go.

i really enjoy the freedoms this setup affords me. I hunt solo and i have plenty of room and sleep dry and comfortably.

Really liking your setup! I’m going to steal that shelf idea. Do you ever wish you were up on a cot rather than mattress ?
