Truck to SUV?

I went to a 2014 4runner from a 2009 GMC Sierra and am content with my decision. 4Runner works better for my lifestyle now. I am going to be looking for a ATV trailer that will double as my rock/yard work trailer. I had the truck for towing a camper but sold the camper because of my wife's health issues. Now we can camp anywhere or try glamping..... I like having everything secure inside the 4Runner too.

When my tundra is ready to trade I am getting a gx550, for the vast majority of things I would be better served with interior storage than the bed. Every year I use the bed less and less.

I likely will end up adding an older 3/4 ton for real towing though frankly might not need it.

For me the hardest part might just be mentally getting past the "I drive a pickup" aspect, I think practically speaking the SUV works fine for me.
For me it’s the damn gas can! No leaks but still smell the fumes for a week in hot weather, especially! Another trade off is the towing experience/capability diminished incredibly with the independent rear suspension! I would pay in spades for a towing pkg with a solid axle!

From above:
Price, if I don’t go SUV, I’ll stay in a small pickup. I can get a nice zr2 or ranger raptor for the same or near it. I guess that’s a wash

I do haul on occasion gas, trash, wood, etc. I thought about one of those hitch carriers with the mesh floor.

As a ranger raptor owner, they are a f**kin awesome daily.
Despite being pigs on fuel lol.
Their towing capacity rating is definitely lower than a diesel truck of similar size (at least here in Australia) but for your stated tow weight needs, you should be fine.
I have found it to be more than capable on and off road, plenty comfortable and spacious for my family of 4.
My son is 6'5 and fits comfortably in the back seat of that is of any concern for you.

Hauled a gas power washer and my 22 foot "little giant" ladder in the ranger today.
So easy to get these in and out of even the 5-foot bed.
And a gas can! 😁
As much as I would like to try an SUV, my gal has a Cherokee I can use. The truck is too handy for stuff like this

I went from always driving pickups to an suv when I took a full time office job. I can’t wait to sell this pos and get back into a pickup. I guess I’m just not civilized enough for suv life. I feel like I’m beating the crap out of the highlander any time I leave the pavement and my wife is not very understanding about the backroad racing stripes down the sides. She doesn’t know about dead things being in the back cause I’d be sleeping outside if she did. I have a utility trailer, but it’s never with me when I need it. I just want out of the suv. I’ve never had any issues navigating in traffic/parking lots in a pickup.

Depends on your lifestyle. Some stuff isn’t fun to carry inside the cab, if you’re hauling stuff often or moving gas cans it’s no fun inside an suv. If you’re talking used and cheaper, prices are all over the place but new or super low miles used it seems you get more for your money with a truck. For example if you wanted a new gmc, it seems the Sierra is much less than the Yukon for the same package.
