Truck bed topper year round?

I use mine year round as well. Works great for taking the dog places and if we get out for snow adventures the kids will hang out back there if its windy/snowing. The only time I have needed to take it off was for a shoulder mount that wouldn't fit inside it.

I think it's also more common where I'm at in the PNW to keep the topper on year round because it's going to rain almost constantly from October to May-ish.

Year round for me. Keeps stuff nice and dry all year. If I need to haul big stuff I just hook up the 16ft trailer.

If you actually need a truck, a topper year around is not going to work. I tried and it’s a pain in the rear in every scenario you can think of.

And this is the best solution I've found. Love toppers until you need a truck bed.

I just keep a long 3 prong cultivator in the bed to hook whatever I need so I don’t have to crawl in there.

Had a Leer for my old Tacoma for 20 years. Slept many night in it but man was it a pain in the ass to take off. Have a buddy with a soft topper. He rolled up to elk camp with a dirt bike in the bed and a load of wood. Took no time to offload the bike and wood and before you know it soft topper was up and he was sleeping. Soft topper for sure.

That I understand to some degree but IMO, if it doesn't fit or can't be loaded under the topper I'm just hooking up the trailer.

Side flip-up windows are the ticket, I have the sliders on my current one and am strongly considering having the flip-ups retrofitted.

My Tundra has a bedrug liner in the entire box and topper. I camp out in the back to scout, fish, and hunt year round. It sure is comfy! If I’m hauling something dirty I place a tarp on the floor and sides.

If I had a big shop/garage I'd rig up a hoist and straps to take it off and put it back on easily on my 1 ton long bed. The only time I've taken it off in the last several years was when I was hauling several truckloads of composted soil amendments and pallets of sod. I left it on this summer when I hauled four full truckloads (up to the roof of the shell) of cut/split firewood. My Tundra doesn't have a topper yet, but I keep looking or one.

Yes, I have Yakima tracks and 4 small SST eye bolts right over the track mounting bolts. Then S-hooks on the ropes.

All I need is the oversized garage/shop. Not enough room in my regular garage.

Be Cap - Year Round' easy to lock and keep some people honest. Haul a lot of tools, off hunting season but also like to keep things dry and with a bed cap it is so easy to do. Plus more room than a Tonneau Cover twice as much and a few times working at my property I haul a lot of tools including Stihl Chainsaw Bar Oil and Fuel, Also wood 2x4's and sheets of wood to repair and maintain my 2 Box Blinds, then my Food Plot Stuff seed, fertilizer & pelletized lime along with Fruit and Nut Tree sprays to keep away disease. With Water to mix with the tree spray stuff. My truck bed is usually about half way full as I have a 3.25 hour drive to get there... And take extra stuff in case I have some spare time to do other stuff. Been doing it for 25 years and all my last 5 new trucks have always had a Bed Cap with a HD Rhino Roof Rack System to Haul Ladders and large lumber. Will never not have bed cap just they are getting pricey these days almost 3 times what I paid back in 2000 for a Fiberglass Bed Cap. And Fewer brands are now available. As Astro / ATC the best I have owned has been discontinued as also Jason Brand. Fewer to pick from (ARE, Century & Leer oh yea and Ranch) But Keeps my Stuff secure and dry...
