Did you ever pull the trigger on a new battery??

After looking at several places and either not having the right post configuration in and/or only having very expensive batteries, i ended up just going to Batteries and Bulbs . Was somewhat interested in the AGM but a little leery of what is required to change it over.

Batteries Plus X2 Power. Just replaced one in my 4Runner. IThe previous one lasted 5 years, which is a heck of a long time....that's 5 "oven" season here. We set a record this year for consecutive days of triple digits....something like 110-ish.

When I bought my X2 in 2019, they had a 5 year full replacement warranrty. Now it is 4 years. Generally Corporate America sucks, but this is a great battery.

Pretty sure those were rebranded Northstars? I’ve been super happy with the Northstar AGM in my Tundra. Up here the -35C and lower cold kills batteries. This one has lasted into year 5.

What is required to change it over?? Can't you just remove the old battery and put the AGM in there?

Why not in the SxS?

haven’t needed to change it but Napa or interstate don’t have a series 26 AGM.

I have to move over to diehard, Odyssey or optimum. probably buy odyssey when it’s time.

Mule pro pretty easy on batteries since has magneto and alternator

Thats a good question. I'm hearing there can be issues if you don't have a new regulator put in. I couldn't pin down a good answer so just stuck with regular Lead Acid

Which battery did you get at batteries and bulbs, and what was the cost? I probably will get the regular lead acid too.

Excellent batteries even if they are pricey and well worth it when you are in the middle of nowhere and practially eliminates a dead battery as a potential problem.

Pretty sure my Super Start Platinum AGMs on my Deisel are just about done. Made it a little less than 4 years. But my truck has been mostly sitting the last 3 years, I started and drove it once a week.

FAIL 2yr 3mo dead. Started fine yesterday, no go in the morning. Fails load test. JUNK

Interstate’s have failed me for the last time.

I’m in year 8 on my factory ac delco lead acids in the duramax Silverado. Just had them tested and they are still good to go. I have purchased interstate and Dekka before and only get 4 years out of them on the boat and it’s plugged in when not in use.

Walmart Everstart for the win. Trust me I hate Walmart as much as the next guy. But when their battery is half the price, has a year longer warranty than the overpriced brands ($300-$400 is a RIPOFF), and is made in the exact same factory as those other brands they get my business.

Plus there is always a Walmart no matter where you are and they always have a battery in stock.

So Walmart Everstart is the clear winner especially with Bidenomics making the economy as it is you need to spend your dollars wisely.

I have had very good success with the Toyota True Start batteries.

I get Interstate Batteries from Costco, and their prices beat everyone else's in my area by a big margin.

What do you mean by regulator? Vehicle regulator? If so not at all that I’ve ever seen. Most chargers have AGM modes to charge and maintain. Odyssey chargers have an AGM2 mode they say is programmed for their batteries.

Just plug in a search for AGM battery use in diesel trucks, I plugged in my 2018 Ram 2500 6,7 and there is a whole lot of info about sensitivity to over charging etc. There's plenty of info about it on the interweb. Like I said earlier I have a high output alternator, I guess I see will how long this second set lasts. 12 months on the last ones sucked .

I don’t know about the newer trucks but I’ve been using Odyssey’s for 20 years or so in different vehicles with no issues. I switched to them after the Optima’s went to crap. My 04 Ram Cummins is still going with 15yo Odyssey’s. They are starting to test a little weak so they’ll likely get changed out before long. 15 years and no issues. They have been kept on a maintenance charger when the truck sits.
