I'm thinking about putting one of these sights on my next vow, was hoping to hear from guys who have actually used them...pin brightness, ease of adjustability, pin durability and overall toughness of the sight.

Thanks!

I have been studying these. Interested in people's experience. Price point seems stiff. Looks like a magical blend of multi pin optionality and single pin precision.

They're a rock solid site. The fixed pins are plenty bright but the single floating pin doesn't have as much fiber for gathering light as the other pins and it really shows up in the evening when light is getting scarce. There's tons of adjustments you can make on it to dial it in exactly how you want it. If you're really looking to extend your range you need to order one in the 8 pin (oblong) housing. On average the normal round housing will be good for most bows out to about 80 yards. In my case I have an Option "6" (5 fixed 1 floating pin) with an 8 pin housing (oblong housing) on an Xpedition Perfexion (336 ibo) set at 28.5". With 445 grain Spartans 4 fletched with an EZ-fletch mini (tons of helical) the floating pin bottoms out when I practice at 110 yards. Hunted for a week in SE Idaho and between the brush I hiked through (not terribly thick) and the time in the saddle scabbard ( my mule crow hopped on a couple of occasions from the lead to the pack string getting under his tail, jumped a few creeks, and got bogged down in mud once) the sight never needed readjusted.

The price is steep on them but it's cheaper/easier for me to just use my Option 6 because I like practicing with a single pin throughout the year but love the practicality of a fixed pin sight for the majority of my hunting. My only complaint is I wish they had made more room for a longer fiber on the floating pin for low light hunting, but I do admit, if the situation isn't absolutely perfect (lighting and all) than I have no reason to have to use that pin since shots would be beyond 60 yards.

Hopefully this helps some.

I swore I'd never put anything but a Spot Hogg Hunter Hogg-It on my bows. Shot a buddies Option and ordered one. I went with the 8 pin housing and have four fixed pins and a floater. I love this thing. Worth every penny to me. I ordered from S&S and they were awesome to work with.

Any issues with the fixed pins "flipping back" when you don't want them to? I think there is magnet retention but I am not sure how it works or how strong it is.

No issues with the fixed pins flipping. The only issue has been noted above that the mover pin is not very bright. I like to use a single pin sight when hunting from a stand with known distances and it is really not at option at dawn and dusk. They are a very solid sight, light weight, and extremely well made.

Thanks. I read somewhere about someone clipping an illuminated nock to the fiber cable of their sight to get low light viz. not sure if it would work on the option or complies with local laws but it is interesting to think about.

The sight is set up for a sight light on either the fixed pins or the mover, so you can go that way too. If I remember right mine came with a light.

For those running the option. How did you configure it. What pin size did you use. I had thought about a 5 pin sight with a 8 pin housing. .29 pin at 20. .19 or .29 pin at 30. .19 pin at 40 .19 pin at 50 .19 floater. Mixing colors a bit as well. I have found I prefer reds and greens as I hunt in the east and they don't wash out against hard leaf backdrops.

Its a solid sight. Its kind of pointless to get one without the 8 pin housing however in my opinion. The adjustment on the axis is kind of a PIA compared to other sights but not terrible. The windage/elevation adjustment is the smoothest of any sight on the market in my opinion.

Now for the guys who are running this sight Dan is working on a new brighter floater pin. We got a couple prototypes and the brightness level on the newer pin is far superior to the original so keep and eye open in the near future for those. The ones we received are a retrofit so hopefully theyll be offered as a stand alone purchase.

I have the Option 5 pin fixed the 6th pin is my floater and I have the 8 pin housing, I went with all green pins .19 fibers for all pins. This sight is awesome but it does take time to get it set up and it can be a PIA, This sight is solid and very well built, I hunted with this sight all this year in the thick nasty nasty stuff in North Idaho and Washington.

I would agree with the others that floater pin is not very bright at all and is my biggest and only complaint with the Option Sight.

I'll say the same as above. Excellent site, easy to set-up and tough as nails. Ordered form S&S archery with custom site configuration and it perfect. Good company to buy from.

This post has got me wanting to spend money. I have always read how bullet proof Spott Hoggs are and I have had issue with mine. Driving me crazy and now I have no confidence in it despite knowing the reputation being so great. Why do I feel these companies are over complicating these sites? Why not have a bullet proof, simple sight with 3rd axis adjustments. It seems when you get to 3rd axis, you pay for a bunch of screws and adjustments that are simply stupid.

What did we ever do to kill the pile of animals before these computer sites cam along :D

My need is simple. 3rd axis adjustment and simple, bullet proof.

For those running the 8 pin housing, what are you doing for a peep? Just using one big enough to match up the top and bottom of the housing?

I just commit blasphemy and do what I did as a kid with a peep sight on my 22. The bead I want to use goes in the center of the peep and I let fly. I've never worried much about aligning the peep with the housing on my other bows either. As long as your anchor is consistent it shouldn't matter much.

Does the sight work in conjunction with a smackdown pro and tight spot quiver? Wondering if anyone runs this set-up and if I need to get an extra plate or spacer for these accessories to work together. Thanks, -Tyler

Thanks to everyone for the input, I have been looking at this site for a couple of weeks. Think I will wait till the new site comes out with the new floater pin.
