Hey everyone I am currently looking at re doing my basement. I am thinking of doing a feature wall with some old barnwood and mounting some taxidermy mounts on it. I have a lot of shoulder mounts and European mounts. I am wondering what colour of paint I should go with for the basement that looks good against mounts? Looking for some pics and ideas please

I used Sherwin Williams 6143 - Basket Beige in satin finish. Looks good with 5" white trim and dark wood floors. Lighting is recessed in ceiling.

I have always liked this green. This type of color walks a fine line between working and not working, but in this case I like it a great deal and if I could do it, I would.

FYI - that is the late Peter Hathaway Capstick's wife, Fiona, on left.

I did a room in the retro wood paneling and the main room with a neutral tan keeping things pretty basic and natural..floor is painted with elk tracks…makes it easy for cleaning and packing gear in and out🤙 Odin says he like it this way🤣🥰

A Chalk or Light Stone , both in the light grey tones looks great without darkening the space.

I don't get it, you say you are doing a barnwood wall. Why would you be painting it?

Sorry I should have been more clear. I am planning on doing only one wall in barnwood. It’ll be a feature wall with a tv mounted and some mounts. Going to paint the remaining walls in the basement

Something light. Beige, tan, grey, yellow(ish)

Or DARK, green or blue.

You want the mounts to pop and the barnwood accent wall to be a stark contrast.

"Buckskin" is the color we did 95% of our house drywall in back in 2016, the exception being the kitchen. House has a lot of wood.... beams, high vaulted ceilings covered in cedar, doors, window trim, baseboard are all wood. We have a fair number of mounts, rugs, antlers and some Euros displayed around the rooms.

The Buckskin color was recommended by local paint experts for our house. A few of the paint suppliers had the mix formula in their computer and were able to blend it. I would describe the color as a tan/beige that goes very good with everything including moose, sheep, elk, deer, goats and black, brown, grizzly and polar bear rugs.

This was the Sherwin Williams fomula for it. Means nothing to me but apparently all the local paint suppliers understand it.

What color is the barn wood? some are obviously painted red and distressed, some is brown or gray patina etc. Find one that compliments the barn wood. Light greys, greens, beige etc work well. Obviously avoid anything antler/horn colored.

IMO lighter is always better to make the animals stand out.

Thay looks very nice! What are those, 10 ft ceilings?
Thank you.

Not sure of the ceiling height actually. We have several ceiling heights throughout the house.

Everyone one who actually has seen the room has commented on the wall color in a positive way.

Lighting is pretty important as well as having no windows.

Sunlight can really change a mounts color over time, which I have personally seen.

I would say based on door high, you have 8' ceilings.
