Tripod for kids

Is the bog pod the way to go for using in a blind for my son? It’s crossbow and rifle… Wanted yalls thoughts. Other options??

For the money its a fine choice. My kids have been shooting deer with crossbow and shotgun off the Bog for several years. Mine is beat up from all the use! I've recently been using a much fancier RRS tripod for my rifles and transitioning my deer guns to ARCA so I can use that. But for the money, in blinds, the Bog is the easy button. It does have a little movement since there's some plastic parts and it's just a clamp style attachment, but it's night and day better than freehanding or just leaning against the window.

If you're not in a scenario where the actual weight of the thing is objectionable, a bogpod is about the most easy-button thing I've ever used for kids hunting on the ground.

Last youth turkey season my son and daughter used the Caldwell Field Pod.

Both liked the front and back support.

When we had all 4 of us in the blind (me. 2 kids and father in law), I had the Field Pod and a regular tripod.

My daughter shot a crossbow and my son a .410, the xbow was heavy so the front and back support of the Field Pod was really helpful and close to what she was used to shooting it off a bench.

We’ve used the Bogpod and the primos trigger stick with many youth hunters and new hunters. I like th Bog if we’re stationary and have a good idea where our our shots will be. If we’re spotting and stalking or moving through the woods, the trigger stick is super quick and quiet to adjust, plus lighter.

The Bog Pod has done very well for my kids. If you put it all the way down, it is rock solid from the prone as well. I have no complaints about mine.

My kids have been using the field pod with great success for years. Its very versatile for different rifles, shotguns or crossbows. Its nice to be able to throw it down and the kid can set the gun in quick if we are moving when we get a shot opportunity. Highly recommend.

Ive got the field pod and full size aluminum bogpod with the death grip clamp...that thing is rock solid but it's a boat anchor to carry around. both are awesome in a blind though. The field pod is a bit trickier to get set up just right and not as solid or smooth, but its a fraction of the weight and still great shooting platform.
Ive not had hands on the carbon fiber death grip model to see how much lighter it is...but they have gotten pricey. The deathgrip is great for crossbow too. If its strictly blind hunting Id go with the full size deathgrip model. It eats alot of the recoil too which is great for kids.

My son uses the Caldwell field pod. He’s killed 3 deer with it. Does a good job holding the rifle steady.

My son uses the bog pod clamp on a lightweight tripod. I’m switching our guns to arca. We deer hunt out of permanent blinds and the tripods take up a lot of space. Has anyone tried using a window clamp instead of a tripod in a blind? The clamp should fit the framing around the windows. We hunt big ag fields and you never know which direction the deer will appear. It’s a cluster moving the tripod for him while still being quiet.

Why not just build a shelf under the window openings and use sandbags?

Superior in every way, IMO.

That’s a nice setup. Thanks for sharing. I ordered a couple new shooting bags a couple weeks ago. I’ll give them a try. Do you just leave the bag in the blind throughout the season?
