Hey guys building a new muzzleloader load today. Barnes 290 TMZ will be the bullet. Or the .45xtps from hornandy.

Anyways what’s a good starting grains to shoot with this stuff? I’m used to blackhorn 209 which I loved but not enough to spend 90$ for 8 ounches on.

I’ve started at 100 grn by volume and then adjusted up or down depending on group size, I would shooting 300 grn Thors with 90 grn by volume of 777 and grouping about 2” at 100 yards

What are you hunting? Which rifle and what grain weight XTPs?

90-115 grV of 777 is the range within which you’ll likely find a good load. Maybe start with 100 grV as Hnt says.

Deer and a cva accura of some sorts. IDR the model. I think the xtp are 240 but like I mentioned the 290s Barnes tmz are what I’m hoping to use. Depends what the gun wants of course
