I carry as few things as possible in the back country, but the things I do carry, I fully believe they are worth it and I don’t dwell on the weight too much. Big spotting scope, heavy stable tripod, and the hatch are probably my only heavy items. But I think they’re worth it.

I really like my ckye pod for triple the money. Dont try one. You will like it.

I gotta ask, at that cost and weight, why do you not just run a premium tripod?
And do you leave the Ckye on your gun while hunting?

A triple pull at 3lbs is so close to being the weight of a tripod, that I'm not sure I'd buy one even if it was priced like a Hatch

I've played with all three, and I just don't see where the Ckye fits for me

Lightweight double pull.
I have a RRS tripod too.
I also have a set of viper sticks and blaser sticks.

I hunt a bunch and a bunch of different areas / states. it all has its place.

I actually didn’t love the CKYE pod, and liked the Hatch quite a bit more. So I got lucky with that and saved the money haha

Hahaha sometimes it just works out that way! Like I like the 3-18 Tenmile more than the
4-20 ATACR. So I saved $1500 and 10oz and neither of those was intentional. Just a preference that worked out .

I carry a premium tripod also. But a bipod is much faster and always at the ready. Prone is also always the goal for me too. And I can use the bipod seated, and the tripod as a rear rest, which is insanely rock solid also. I just haven’t adapted to the tripod mounted rifle yet.

I do the same as what you describe. The Hatch fits that role pretty nicely.

I wrongly assumed Reburn was talking about a triple-pull Ckye, since that is more appropriate comparison to the Hatches. So my questions to him were based on that assumption

While the triple pull is the closest to a hatch if I'm going to shoot sitting its likely going to be clipped into my tripod. I have found the lightweight double pull to plenty when I'm shooting in most prone-ish positions.

@Formidilosus is this a PRI 20 moa pic riser? I’m only getting 8 mils out of my scope on 0 moa rings and would like more for practice. If so, what ring height are you using to keep the scope down lower? Thanks

No. It’s a flat riser. And I had about 8 mils left after zeroing in that rifle.

The strong performance in Forms testing and all around positive feedback are swaying me to pick one up soon for a 7 PRC I won in a raffle - very soon if someone runs a Black Friday sale on them. Nope. They are very good scopes.

I’ll say this, I have had this scope three seasons and love it. It’s killed three bulls now with no problems. Just got out of the Colorado back country at 6 days with it. Had it banging around on the outside of my pack, staying out of the SO tent at night with temps in the single digits. It got so cold and moisture got into my bolt and safety that they both froze shut for multiple hours one morning, scope dialed and zoomed like it should still! I didn’t take care of my gun it at all (I really need to be better lol). Fell down multiple times on it in the snow. And after all that I laid down and put three rounds through the boiler room at 400 yards on this guy with my tikka 7mm rem mag. Buy one, you won’t be sorry.

I have two Tenmile 3-18s. Currently on a hunt with one of them. Mounted in UM Tikka rings. Sighted it in before I left for the hunt. After the two flights, I confirmed zero, and it was still perfect. It has been bounced in the truck, hiked with, and used on a 353 & 440 yard shot. Dialing has been perfect. I also expect it’ll still be perfectly zeroed after I land back home and confirm. I’ve had three NX8s, and I’ve used it beside a RS1.2. I love it!
