Trijicon Tenmile 3-18x44mm Field Eval Q&A

I have two Tenmile 3-18s. Currently on a hunt with one of them. Mounted in UM Tikka rings. Sighted it in before I left for the hunt. After the two flights, I confirmed zero, and it was still perfect. It has been bounced in the truck, hiked with, and used on a 353 & 440 yard shot. Dialing has been perfect. I also expect it’ll still be perfectly zeroed after I land back home and confirm. I’ve had three NX8s, and I’ve used it beside a RS1.2. I love it!

What height did you get for the UM rings?

I bought low height rings. They didn’t have micro height back when I bought them. Micro would possibly work if using with a factory light barrel and small enough objective, but wouldn’t clear the Trijicon flip-up cap lip.

While not UM, I have NF X-treme duty UL rings on both of my tenmiles. I have 1 in lows and 1 in meds. Both work, but I do prefer the clearance of the mediums for bolts with a 90 degree throw.

With a picatinny rail yes. The UM dove tails are nice, however low, I ordered tallest height and with rokstok the scopes lower than I prefer. I do typically run my stuff higher than most people tho.

So after listening to one of the recent Hunt Backcountry Podcasts, I don't think Form would approve, but I got first round vital impacts at 704yds on my most recent bull with this scope after a long unpaved drive, a jet boat ride, and a long hike, Zero retention has been perfect, dialing is reliable, and it's become my go to scope. In my low value opinion., you'd be hard pressed to find a better, more reliable scope for the money.

Spent this season with a Tenmile 3-18x44 on my 6mm Creed and worked perfectly for zero retention and RTZ. The reticle is faint no doubt, especially below 6x and you will need to rely on illumination in dawn/dusk & dark timber. I just picked up a Maven RS 1.2 MIL for comparison. I prefer the reticle on the Maven from 3-9x, above 9x I prefer the Trijicon. The top end mag on the Trijicon is 18x vs Maven 15x. Both have a tight eye box and loose a bit of clarity when dialed all the way up. From my comparison the Maven is awesome up to about 12x where as the Tenmile does well up to 15x mag wise.

The Maven wins out for reticle function on the low end so if you might encounter close targets in poor lighting then the Maven would be my pick. If you do most of your shooting above 10x and don't mind needing to use illumination when the scope is turned down then may give the nod to the Tenmile. The Tenmile is also about 2 oz lighter. Both are awesome scopes!
