I have a couple of defiance Anti X’s. Yesterday I picked my new Titanium version (Ti X) for a new build. Feels exactly as the others, lighter and just as smooth.

I have a 7PRC and 6Creed on Anti-x actions, which I've been happy with. Just be aware, the bolt lift is a bit hefty on the 75deg throw (even w/ a 21# firing pin spring) if you go that route.

The sale price of $1275 was too much to resist trying. Think they claim 15oz which is nuts. Got an 18” proof blank as well. Let the money burning commence!

My SA stainless SKLTN came in at 20 oz so that number should be pretty accurate for titanium.

Here’s a Pierce SA Skele-Ti mag bolt face with a full aluminum rail.

This one has a load port long enough to use the UM DBM and feed rounds at least 3.150” long.

I’ve built three Defiance lightweights now. I like all of them a lot.

First was an Anti (not the X) long action with a 24” proof carbon barrel in 7 Rem Mag (back when that was a prefit they chambered). I’ll rechamber it to 28 Nosler before too long, but I really like how it turned out. Ive taken two cows with it now, but the long barrel really wasn’t a great choice on the cusp of everything being suppressed. 7 Rem Mag seems an archaic choice with the PRC chamberings that have come out since, but I had a lot of ammo for it. I don’t carry it much anymore, too unwieldy with a can on.


Second was another Anti (not the X) but a short action. It got an 18” 6mm Creedmoor barrel from Rainier Arms. Super happy with it as well. This is one of my trainer rifles, particularly for long distance shooting.


Third was a Ti-X medium with a 20” PBB .750 taperless fluted barrel in a long throat 300WSM chambering. This build combined what id learned from the others, particularly the lessons learned from the 7 Rem Mag build, and was specifically built as a lightweight meat hunting rifle using high BC copper monos (192gr HBC). I think I’ll get a lot of use out of it, I just killed a cow with it this week. WAY easier to lug around than the 24” barrel long action.



As much as I like the Defiance actions, the BAT Vesper is significantly superior in the same weight class as the Anti. I had UM build me a Vesper short action in 6-284. It locks up like a bank vault, and the bolt throw is significantly smoother and with less slop than the Defiance actions. You pay more for the Vesper, but you can certainly feel what you paid for when you run the bolt.

The bolt throw on mine is definitely heavier than I expected. I was trying to get scope clearance - which in hindsight I probably did not need for this particular rifle. Had I known how stiff the bolt lift is I would have learned more about the 90 degree (or other actions) before going Anti-X 75 degree. Hopefully it lightens up quite a bit with use...
